Two of my male dogz just seemed to flirt with one another, and now I'm wondering if petz can be gay.
I have read about petz who've had their gender changed, can have a glitch where one of them that used to be female can get pregnant, etc. but neither of these dogz of mine have ever been female. They were born male and I've always kept them as such.
Also, I'm gay, so I'm not fussed about this in the slightest, I'm just curious if this is something common, and I don't remember if I've ever seen it before in same-sex petz, only male and females flirting with one another.
Though I'm also not sure if "flirting" can also just be "playful" behaviour in petz. (Tbh, one of them is a very pretty boy Poodle mix, so I'm not surprised the other one was flirting with him lol!)

Interesting! I was just going to say, I'd only ever seen it in two females before. I know there are some seemingly flirty interactions Petz can have, that are actually just default friend actions (such as poking each other and doing the happy lean-in, body wiggle thing) but I don't think it's actually actual flirting unless they're making lovey eyes/sounds and circling each other a lot. That's usually the definite tell-all. xDD I know there's a bug where two female Petz can fall in love and get each other pregnant, but I hadn't seen it in two males myself. It sounds cute though!! I also have no issues with it. I kind of love the idea that Petz just love who they love and there's no limits. xD I still have a dog and cat in P3 that are in love and I have NEVER seen this before, and still don't know what the heck happened there!!

My understanding is that 'technically' no. Like, it's not going to be interpreted by the game as them being 'mates' and they will still flirt with females and breed.
When females breed they ARE considered mates by the game but it's caused by a glitch - i.e. it's not intentional. It comes about because of the way the game codes gender. Basically it's one value for male and 'not that' is female. But that ends up meaning that females can have more than one value and still be considered female. The game checks if two pets are the same gender by checking these values. Same means the same gender, can't breed... But if two females with different values meet, it interprets that as being different genders so they are able to breed. So technically the game is trying not to have this happen but sometimes it does (and gender swapping with PetzA has made it much more likely - I've created lesbian pets on purpose this way to get females that don't get on to start getting on lol)
Apparently the original devs DID discuss including gay relationships in the game but didn't in the end.

I thought something like that would be the case. I wouldn't have imagined they'd actually make that a possibility in the game, not to be able to breed but only to flirt and fall in love. I was a bit shocked and made me wonder "did one of them begin as a girl and I've just forgot?" because one of them (the Poodle mix) is newer to me, only being born last year, but the other is from about 2008/2009 and I know for definite has always been a boy. I rarely change the gender of my petz if I'm keeping them. I sometimes will change the gender if they're not one I'm keeping and just want to breed with a specific pet of the same gender. This is the pair of them, by the way. They're called Pudding (Poodle mix) and Pugsly! I think they would make a cute couple if they were falling in love lol. They've been flirting a bit more, and usually Pugsly doesn't get along with anyone apart from his dad so that was another shock - "he's getting on with someone at last!" lol!

Whoa, dude...this is random, but Pugsly looks almost exactly like my boy, Beachnut, bred in 2006!! They're twins!! <3 Pudding is adorable too! I don't usually gender-swap my normal copies of Petz, but when I'm doing breeding, I use copies of my Petz and can gender-swap those. My breeding copies don't stick around, since they're temporary forms of my actual Petz...that way I can breed whoever I want and not actually mess up my original pet! xD Worth a try, if you wanted to actually breed them sometime but not use their actual copies!

That's so cool! xDD This is off topic but now I kinda want them to meet, haha! My dog has Admiral of the South Seas Islands as one of his parents, I think!

I have some of Pugsly's relatives, but his mother is also his dad's grandmother. I've just discovered he was born in 2007. This was back when I first started playing Petz. He was a complete accident, like another of mine whose parents are brother and sister. That was obviously a complete accident too but when they were born, I fell in love with them! It's wasn't the pup's fault I made a mistake!

I'm guessing they can. I have three female cats (who were also originally female) and they have a lot of flirty interactions. I think I may have briefly turned one into a male for a breeding experiment but the other two have always been female Those mutts are so cute <3
