When making toys, do you need to make them the same exact shape as the original? If you want to make something with a different shape, do you need to edit anything other than the sprite? (To make things like collision and so on work.) For example, if you wanted to edit the tug toy, could you do a different shape or would you have to stick to the original, wedge-like shape?
Also... how do you even make accessories, like hats? I've found some clothing tutorials but they're about changing the texture on shirts. I tried to follow this toy tutorial and see if it worked on clothes, but I guess not -- I tried to edit one of the hats to make a flower crown, and it just won't show up at all. It's invisible on the shelf and when I put it on my pet, it looks like the original. Does anyone have any tutorials or tips that would apply here? Or is that something way more complicated for a beginner than I thought?
Thanks for your patience, everyone

it depends on the toy you're editing, i think some toys are entirely sprites, so all you need to do is import your own sprites over the original ones and it works fine, but toys like the bone and tug toy seem to be made of ballz and linez like pets are (you can't edit them in LNZ pro, though, so i guess you'd probably either need to use a hex editor or resource hacker for that)
for clothes, you use tinker only to edit the sprites for the shelf and flat clothing items off the pet, for the rest, you use LNZ pro, and to make accessories and whatnot, you have to edit the ballz and linez in the CLZ like you would do to hex a pet. i think some people make the accessories by editing them into a breed file in petz workshop and then taking the add ball and linez code from the breed LNZ and adjusting it to fit the CLZ formatting, but it takes some trial and error
i think Carolyn's Creations has some tutorials on editing both types of things

Thank you! I guess that's what I was doing wrong. I was using LNZ for some of the steps as shown in the tutorial (which I forgot to link, it's this one: therabbitholepetz.weebly.com/toy-hexing-tutorial.html) but I had no idea I had to make ballz and linez for something like a hat. Ah well. I'll have to look up those things.

I believe I know of a good tutorial for hexing addball clothes that’s easy to follow. I’ll look for that when I’m on my computer and send it to you later if I find it!
But yeah, as gyiyg said unfortunately if you want to make clothes and not just recolor them, it involves messing around with addballs and lines like you would when hexing a pet file. So a bit more work but doable!

New question! I managed to make a vase based on the marble one My question is what does the mask do? If I increase it, will it increase the space the flowers can go in (for example, if I make something wider than the regular vase). Thanks!

I wanna learn how to make the hats that the guys in DEVO wear but I'm not sure how to approach that...XD I think you could do that by treating the layers like the brims of regular hats, just multiple of them and with different sizes. At least some of the hats in the game have brims, so you could use that as a starting point. Also, I don't know if you know this, but you can use Petz Workshop to position things visually -- I did a lot of copying back and forth when I was trying to make some flower crowns.
I'm not very experienced with this but let me know if you need help, I can try to help you brainstorm
Your idea is awesome, I'd love to give my pets little DEVO energy domes xD

Thanks! There's definitely a few hats I know that are tall enough too, so I think we got a few good bases to try. I'll let you know if I need anything! I might start simple and recolour some shirts so I can make some Tie Dye stuff.
