(Okay, I had way too much fun designing this thread. Can you tell? Apparently, Papyrus costs $29 to download, so I found a free version called "Parchment". )
Alrighty, I'm not sure if this has been done before - if you search for "nostalgia" on this forum, there are over 10 pages of results! Which told me two things.
a) If there was a Community Nostalgia Thread, it hasn't been since 2011, so I think it's safe to create a new one!
and
b) the PC sure loves getting nostalgic!
I thought this would be fun. Maybe it's just me, but I totally get nostalgic thinking about the old internet in general, but especially the old Petz internet! If you have any recollections from back in the day, post them here! Screenshots or ancient images are golden. It could be your first reactions to the Petz Interwebs, your horribly designed first site (I am totally pointing a finger at myself), Border Collies, Pink Dalmatians (if you catch this reference, you are officially Old Skool)... this font.. One thing is for sure, its been a wild ride and we've come a long way! I think it's pretty cool that this fandom has been around since before most people even got online, don't you? Here's my offering to the Museum of the Petzy Past, from way back in the year 2000: LILLIPUT MINIATURES! [ The site is still online, joy of joyz!] I remember when these things came out, they were the hottest thing on the market. Everybody either had one of these mini Petz, or wanted one! The cool thing about them is, if I remember correctly, they were all high-gen petz, not one-off tiny hexies. Also, there was a funny little story involved - the little petz were rescued from the island of Lilliput, where they were being sold for food. I remember, I was so overjoyed when I got my Lilliput! It might have been the third most exciting thing that happened to me that year - first one being getting a Ricky and Tess puppy, and second being turning 10. Double digits, baby! I can't believe it, the adoption records are online and everything. Lass herself is long, long, long gone unfortunately! (oops, now you guys know my real name! ) Did anyone else here adopt a Lilliput? If so, go look for your pet! That was fun trip down memory lane! Please, please, please if anyone has anything to add, don't hesitate to share! Do it for ~the future~! (I'm really big about recording history, haha!)

I don't think I have anything left from that age... But I still use Comic Sans on my site (I know some others do, too, like Mandi @ Cargo) because it's still awesome in my book. I've never even heard of Ricky and Tess! I always think it's funny that there used to be "famous" petz everyone wanted offspring from... Most people won't even know a single one of your petz by name lol, unless maybe you have a super cute hexie you show off frequently. The closest I can think of is Mai and Chedey, I guess they're pretty famous! Maybe we should all try to make our petz famous again. Funny story while we're on Petz nostalgia: so when I was 9, I had no idea how to hex but thought they were the COOLEST THING EVER!!! and how cool would I be if I offered some hexie adoptions? My solution was that I'd paint the petz crazy colors with the paint bucket and hope no one ever hit Restore Original Colors on them lol. I never actually got around to doing it, but 9-year-old me was a serious scam artist :\

Oh gosh I remember Ricky and Tess! I used to have one of their puppies and I had a grandpup more recently but lost them all in a crash and sadly I never backed them up! D; Hearing about Ricky and Tess is making me all nostalgic and I want to whip out the BC OW and start a line of them <3 I used to have a lilliput but couldn't find mine on the website, gosh I can't believe the site is even still around! Thank you for this trip down memory lane. It would be great if we coud eventually put a site together that is dedicated to the old memories of the PC. I remember back when Mojo had her leopard shepherds etc all exclusive until someone starting doing .pet to .dog OW's and there was a whole host of drama over that but I seriously miss the simple days. I remember my first Leopard SHpeherd from Mojo, that was another super exciting moment in my early PC life

I'm going to start a list of "vintage" Petz sites that are still online (or have been archived), just because. Finding old Petz sites is like my new hobby, lol. [Bonus points if they have working downloadable adoptions] Unfortunately, a lot of the old cornerstones of the PC are gone, gone, gone. But there's still little bits to be found around the web..
This might come in handy if we ever make a PC history page, who knows?
Please let me know if you have any to add to the list!
Note: the dates listed are when the site was last updated. also, keep in mind that a lot of these sites, especially the oldest ones, are shells of their former selves, as in, there is a lot that won't work on these. its about the ~experience~, man
(Mostly) Full Sites Anso's Petz, ?? Kats Empire, 1999 Baby Blue Kennelz, 1999 PetzGallery, 2000 Tiggy's, 2000 (man, tiggy's was my JAM. see that calico? rosemarie, the owner of tiggy's, hosted a competition to name her - the prize was two ty beanie baby cats, sent all the way from england. guess who won? *puffs out chest*) Silver's Petz Site, 2000 The Strawberry Patch, 2000 The Petz Warehouse, 2001 Cage Comics, 2001 (brace yourself, most of the comics are dead) Cookied Petz, ?? (possibly 2002) Petz 4 Ever, 2004 Black Mist Crittery, 2006 (this layout brings back so many memories - it just dawned on me that this trend of dark color schemes, "bad" words and creative use of section titles, i.e. 'take', coincided with the time that most of us were in our mid teens.) Deviant Petz, 2007 UK Petz, 2008 - I cant believe this is still online!
Random Pages of Interest The Petz Navigator's Articles Page, 2000 - A smaller site's take on feeling left out, opinions on the drama of rant sites Petz Lovers Against Hexie Redistribution, 2000 - Andrea @ Cybriar and Artemis @ (i forgot)'s campaign The Don't Delete Me Campaign, unknown - aww.

It can be real fun finding old petz sites, especially if they happen to be one you used to visit when you were young ^^
I remember there was this site, I cannot at all remember what it was called, but I used to spend ages reading their petz stories and comics, I thought they were genius. (Little did I know it was really just adding speech bubbles to petz pix using paint xD)

I think it was called The Cage or something? edit: found it! added it to the list. a lot of the comics are dead, but a few of them live on
