These are pets, my companions, my friends, my spotted children, the loves of my life <3
This is my boy, Zeke <3 You would be hard pressed to find a dog as easy going and eager to please as him. As my very first AKC show dog, we have gone on quite the journey together!!!
This is my girl, Daisy. More on her below.
This is the newest member of my family, Jewel, Daughter of Daisy and Zeke <3 She is quite the character!!! ALL cute, adorable and ornery puppy!!!
Here are pictures of Jewel when she was 1 week old. For those who don't know, Dalmatian puppies are born white and start getting their spots at around 3 weeks old. From the time she was a couple days old, I knew that there was no way I could let her go <3
And last, my personal Angel, Daisy again. This dog is truly amazing. I mean, words can't even describe her. She is as friendly a dog as they come. Strangers, children of all ages and other animals...it doesn't matter, she is a friend to all. She is so incredibly well behaved. This dog will run beside you for whatever distance, walk calmly beside you for hours, play like the world's most gentle puppy when you want her to, lay at your feet all day and cuddle with you all night. Her tail is always wagging and she always listens to commands the first time, no matter the situation (EXCEPT when people came to pick up her puppies...then she was determined to get in the car with each and every one of them).
But what makes Daisy more than just another dog isn't all that. It's her absolute gentle and loving nature. Daisy has acted as surrogate mother on two separate occasions. Once was a few years back with two Dalmatian puppies that were not her. A vet had improperly and unnecessarily tube fed them. He overfilled their tummies, killing one and giving two others pneumonia. As these babies were just over a week old, my new vet gave them less than 25% chance of making it. Daisy was just weaning her first litter of puppies so she was with me when I started caring for the pups. I had them in a basket and left the room and when I came back, she had taken both pups out of the basket and was lying there nursing and cleaning them. I was absolutely amazed. It is due to Daisy's tender and attentive care that both of these babies survived.
And then, more recently, when Daisy last litter was 6 weeks old, I received a phone call. This local man had found the ad for my puppies and asked me if their mother was still producing milk and if I would be willing to help him out. He had a litter of 6 day old Doberman puppies and their mother had just died. She had died due to massive internal blood loss the day before. Out of 9 puppies, they were down to 5. I instantly knew he had found me for a reason and agreed to help. He brought the puppies over. Daisy took one look at them and, even though their scent was completely unfamiliar, they were hers. She nursed them, cleaned them and loved them as if they were her own. It was a truly remarkable thing to behold.
