Hey guys. :3 I have a couple questions about selective-bred breeds [like Tams and Gypsies] and I was wondering if any of you had the answers, as I'm kind of interested in making/creating/whatevering one. :D
1. How do selective breeds....catch on, I guess? Like, become 'famous'? XD I assume it's being well-known/well-liked in the PC, or having a popular site but...*shrugs* XD
2. Has there already been a selective breed that's like... a Meezer-bodied Meez, with meez points...basically a different-colored Siam [like...think of an AC meezer, but like...orange instead of cream, for example?] with a face streak and chest patch? Since that's what I'm kinda planning.
3. Is there anything I should know about creating a selective breed? I'm aware that it would take time, I have a lot of time, but... XD Beyond that, i guess. :3
Please and thank you for any help! :3

Well, you have the right answers to number 1. But, most people that make a 'real' selective breed register the petz in their own registry, like Starswept did with the Tamsins. Make a standard- what is acceptable, what isn't, etc. And they usually make them fairly selective as to numbers- don't give out a lot of them, make them app/for trade only, etc. Advertising them on RKC and other forums should help with popularity, and you prob. should build your own site for them.
As for #2- I can't think of a particular breed that looks like what you are describing. I would recommend using your own lines only to build the breed, unless you want to give credit to another for your selective breed. Start with 1st gen and make your way up until they breed 100% true to the breed standard.

Being well-known doesn't guarantee a selective breed will catch on. It's a matter of people liking it enough to move it forward, throughout the community. You can be the most well-known person in the PC and your breed may never catch-on.

^ very true. But, most selective breeds are cute enough to gain some popularity lol. I mean, why selective breed an ugly type?

What's beautiful to one person can be ugly to another though. For instance, some people like the Bulldog faces, I can't stand them. You never know what someone else might or might not like.

Alright, thanks for the help guys! :3 I'll work on building a site/subsite of Aileron for it, and breeding them and such.

lol I know what you mean about non liking certain features- but generally speaking, there should be some appeal in the PC for almost any type (at least, that's what I meant anyways). The only thing I could think of that would have limited appeal is strange body shapes- tiny legs, giant heads, you get the picture. But there is always someone out there who will love them lol. So, for selective breeding- if you want it to be popular, look at what is popular NOW and go from there. But, breed what you think is worth your time- you have to like it too lol! ETA: Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Hmm. Well, besides [possibly] meezer tails, there shouldn't be any tinyness/hugeness. XD
So, what's popular...Do you think meezers are 'popular'? Since I know a few people who kinda hate them, so I thought I'd check. ;3
[And thank you! I'm excited to start breeding!]

You should whatever you like, when people see that a person has put their heart into a project, it makes it more interesting to them. ^^

Wow! Making all those breedz must've taken forever. Thanks for the list! And thank you ;3 I'm hoping I can successfully make something. XD Whooo progress! Laid out my breed standard! Kinda. Also, named them "Aeros" since the name of my site, "Aileron", is an Aeronautics term. Plus it sounds awesome. Standard:
I've bred a few Catz that fit the standard [5 to be specific] but they're not breeding completely true yet. They're part Meez, part BW, and part Chinchi.
EDIT;; asdjkl; GUYS GUYS, I got a couple that breeds true! I've breed 10 and 100% of them are legit Aero's. Question though, should I breed more to test whether they really breed true, or is 10 enough?
EDIT2;; Oh yeah, pictures. XD *chuckles* Here are the two I'm keeping. [they're not the previous couple, I think they'll still breed true though. I mean, they're an even higher generation, and they're the children of that couple]
Aileron's Mi Amore Vole fe Yah "Amore"
Aileron's The Mighty Dinosaur "R3X"
