Okay so I just downloaded ResHack and I am a n00b hexer, as I haven't done anything...lol. Plus I don't have any ideas for WHAT I want to hex so that doesn't help either....
What I want to know is what do you open with the program? A breed file? What if I just want to hex a pet? Not a breed....? *goes completely insane and starts screaming at anyone who blinks*
Can you hex a mixed breed that you already have? I mean, like, if it's the right shape you want it and everything....? Kinda erm..edit it ya know?
*is confused to death*
EDIT: And on the tutorials for stuff it says you have to do a search for something or another, and I don't know how...*shamefulness*
EDIT AGAIN: I somehow figured out that you can't hex things with ResHack, just look at the file....so..help? ahaha..

Yuo want to hex a breed file It's easier than hexing a .pet file, as you hex the breed and then simply adopt a pet from the breed you hex! Yuo Can hex .pet files but its more complex - not begginer work really...

Eheh yeah I figured...but what I really am confused on is how are you supposed to kill the variations so only the one you want comes out of the AC?

to remove the veriations you must remove this section
;individual variation
just all that section up until the next bracketed thing [] dont remove any more than that section though...

So you just delete EVERYTHING under that bracket? I'm sorry, I'm really slow.

*Nods* Exactly, on the override.
I do breed file editing on ResHack; I don't bother with petz files unless I have an already hexed cat I was working on for someone who just needs minor adjustments.

*so far* (still need to finish colors and flares and stuff, this is so time-consuming) BWAHAHAHAHAAAA this is something I could get into....*stares maniacally* EDIT: Got some more done. *shrug* Need lots more experience, maybe I'll try textures...they'd look so much more professional..lol but that's what I get for being a n00b

just so you know, as a hint of advice, colours after 149 do not show any texture.

Get LNZ Pro. It can edit both breed files and pet files with ease. It has an error checker than can point out problems in your LNZ file.

Ditto, that's what I use. So easy and FUN!!! I wouldn't hex if it weren't for LNZ Pro. (Just my reccomendation)
