I chose family.
Although I don't get along with them all the time, they're usually pretty supportive of everything that I want to do, and most of all: they're always there for me when I need it, especially my mom. I grew up without a dad, so I've always been especially close to my mom. ^^
And, after I left high school, friends really didn't call or try to talk to me. (Everyone was 15-16) I thought they were my friends... I mean, I hung out with them every day since middle school. But, I guess it just wasn't enough. I've come out of it with 3 great friends who mean the world to me. I don't see them as much as I'd like to, but they're always there if I need to talk.
It really just depends on the situation. Some people prefer friends, and some prefer family. All depends on what you grew up with ^^ A good question to ask yourself is, "are these people still going to be in my life after I graduate highschool/college? Or are they going to leave my life?"

I'm not going to vote, because it's an impossible question for me to answer. Depends on the individual person.. When it comes to my husband or my mother, there's no question in comparison to my RL friends.. But my best friend (who I've only talked to online), is just as important to me as any of my family members.
Honestly, I don't see people as any different whether they're related to me or not. There are some people in my family that if I never see again it will be too soon. And while I don't have many close friends, the ones I do have are as important to me as my closest family members.

neither?? lol. both treat me horribly. sigh. lol. They both treat you bad? Really? To me, I think family is better. They protect you and they love you no matter what. But, I love my friends too.

Heh, I wish that were always true. Most of my family would feed me to lions if given the opportunity. lol

LOL really? Why? My family wouldn't feed me to lions! Or will they? I hope they don't...save me, Ela!

lol, I don't know. My family is just a bunch of people bound by blood and nothing more. We all typically resent each other and are constantly at war. For the most part, in my family, you're lucky to find two of us which do actually genuinely like each other.

We're beyond fighting, we disowned each other. Most of my family no longer associate with one another and when we do, we are nice until about 5 minutes into the convo and then heck breaks loose, a war erupts, and once finished, we stop talking to eachother for months (or in some cases years) again.
As the saying goes... You can pick your friends but you can't pick your family.
Definitely true: You can pick friends who you get a long with and trust, but your family is your family regardless of if you get along and trust each other.

Yes, that is true! I love my family a lot. But, my BFF is mad at me. I called her too many times on the phone. I didn't do it on purpose...I just love chatting with her! She hasn't talked to me in months. I miss our friendship sooo much! We did everything together. I'm thinking of writing a sorry letter to her. Do you think I should?

It depends on how loosely we're using the term "friends". I can count the friends who mean anything to me on half a hand, and those ones are just as important as family.
But even so, my family will always come first. Well, my siblings and my grandparents, anyway.
