I'd say mates because they don't have a rightto boss you about and your friends are more exiting (unless you never see your parents)

Ehhh much as I dislike my family sometimes, I would take them over my friends. My friends can't offer me the same security that my family can and great as they are, I cannot live with most of them 24/7 lol. My family and boyfriend are the only ones I can live with without wanting to pop someone in the mouth.

animefreak, you should have made your thread's subject, poll question, and post's text more clear... Friends or family what??
I will lock this poll if it isn't made more clear.

Seriously, how old are you? (I mean this in the unbelieving way, like, how can you think friends are more important than family) xD
Friends may seem more important as you're growing up, as they "understand" you more than your parents, but what if they suddenly died? You'd have to pick your family. You can't depend on your friends as much as you can on your family. You can say you do, but when it comes down to trust, you can't. The only friend I can depend on is one I've known for 16 years, because I've known her for that long, but I go to my family more than my friends.
Just had to say that before the poll is (potentially) locked.

Maybe in your personal upbringing, your family are "close" and dependable and trustworthy, , but not everyone's upbringing result in close bonds with their families, if any bonds at all. In fact, many families - like my own - are extremely distant and loath each other's very existance. My family are distant, even though all but my dad live in the same population 1200 town. We avoid eachother, we loath eachother (with the exception of my mom and my brother) and we couldn't care less if the other is dying or dead. My dad, to whom I grew up with, could die and I seriously wouldnt care. Why? because I hate him. This isnt one of those "Oh you just say that" moments. I am 100% serious. I could be happier without my dad or some of my siblings. I would trust my best friend more sooner than I would trust my family. Why? Because we share everything, we are always there for eachother, we are bonded in ways that my family and I are not. So friends or family? Depends on the individual.

Good point Ela. I was focusing more on my own relationship with my family (immediate relatives, we're close, but I'm not close with my grandparents, cousins, their children etc.) I suppose past experiences lead me to only trust one (or two, now that I think about it) friends and I would tell them things I don't tell my family, but I depend on my parents a lot. It's horrible how much I depend on them, but I do. I can't say I trust them, but if I think about whether I would want to spend a day with my dad or my friends, depending on the activity such as a walk around the area or something, I'd prefer my dad. Or just sitting at home >>

Which one WHAT?? Which one do you want to eat cake with? Which one would you rather buy socks for? Sillyness apart, it could be a lot of things...
So, sorry, but I asked that you made the question more clear, and it's just as unclear now as it was at first. Poll locked. Please PM me if you want me to unlock it with a clearer subject and message text (since it's too late to change the poll question now).

Unlocked.
Good points from both Artemis and Ela here. I would personally pick my family, as I've always been very close to them.

I would personally pick my friends. The only person who doesn't hate me in my family is my cousin so, yeah.

Urh neither? my parents have screwed me up so much in the head that i've turned into a short bated cow and with the mental and emotional scars they have left me with I can never trust them again, let alone love the idiots. And i've never had friends because i've always hated the fact of someone being close to me ~_~
