I'm looking for some feedback on this pose:
This cat struggled to place above 3rd place when I was showing him a while back. I'm not used to posing Persians so that could be some of it. I thought maybe it's the front feet? But then I notice similar front feet placement getting BIS.

It could be the uneven eyelids, used as a tiebreaker with other good/great poses.

I could see that, but in some shows catz with even more obviously uneven eyelids placed ahead of this one (in at least one case that super uneven eyelid cat won BIS while this pose got HM). Vertigo here is a calico personality so I was happy to get him with eyelids this even.

i think the cat is turned too far away from the camera, imo its best to have the two front feet line up as evenly as possible, and the lids could be part of it, too!

How can you tell it's turned too far away from the camera? Is it the "extra" pixels on the left hand side of the front feet? Or something else?

I agree the front legs could be the culprit - I'm not overly familiar with showing catz but looking at the posing and judging guide here there are a few examples of persian legs showing perfect alignment. This looks like something your cat should also be capable of, so perhaps judges have been marking your pose down for that? And maybe the other catz that placed BIS were breeds that weren't capable of achieving perfectly aligned legs in pose, so wouldn't necessarily have been penalised for having some pixels showing as it's the best alignment possibe for them anyway.
Otherwise, looking at the eyelids, it could be personal preference on the part of the judges - perhaps some are weighting different elements of the pose more heavily than others in their judging process. So if they faulted your cat for having incorrect leg alignment, maybe that mattered more to them than how even lids were?

Or something else? thats exactly what i was looking at, but it definitely could be a lot worse! i know with big fluffy feet its hard to get them lined up perfectly but if you were going to re-pose him i would focus more on the eyelids (:

I wonder about that all the time! Sometimes I try to figure out which judges weight what part of the post most heavily, but it's hard!
Thank you all for your input. <3 Eventually I want to show Vertigo in PKC when it's back up and running so even though he's already made it to SGCh on forums I want to perfect his pose.
