There's a lot of Petz 5 players around but I think it's just a matter of preference. I made the same decision as you Amber-- I played Petz 4 a lot as a kid so I downloaded it now as an adult.
For posing, it's said to be easier to use Petz 4, but there's actually quite of few of the judges/showers who use Petz 5 (I believe Ratqueen is one of them).
Prior to the tool that converts between Petz 5 to Petz 4, there was no way to get a pet from Petz 5 back into Petz 4 so that was problematic if you did adoptions. But now it doesn't matter.
Edit: Oh yeah I suppose that Petz 4 was the popular version for a long time so a lot of the downloadable clothes, toyz, and breedz are Petz 4 only.
