First question: do cats do tricks? If they don't, that would explain why mine never seem to do any. But if they do, do you make them do tricks the same way as dogz? Just wiggle treats beside them? I may be doing it wrong otherwise.
Second question: do you praise the attempts your petz make when doing tricks? Even when they don't do it right, I still give them a treat or a pat for trying. (And I just thought of an additional question: would praising their attempt encourage them to learn the trick faster?)

Hi Rhikan! ^^ Only catz with a 100 Dogginess personality value will be able to do tricks. Chances are, if they aren't performing tricks for treats, then their Dogginess personality value is not 100. You can check your catz to see what this value is though by downloading and using Reflet's program here. You can learn more about personality values through Shaina's thread here: petzforum.proboards.com/thread/69589/personality-discussionIf you would like to learn more about how to praise and train your petz to do tricks, I recommend checking out Spider's guide right here: petzforum.proboards.com/thread/37006/spiders-guide-trickster-petzIt's an amazing, comprehensive guide that essentially goes over everything you need to know to get your petz into performing tricks! And finally, once you've trained your pet to do tricks, you might want to consider entering them in trick shows! There are many hosted here on RKC, and some on the Whiskerwick and Duke's Group forums as well. If you'd like to learn more about this type of show, you can read Salem's post here on her site: slayemsalem.wixsite.com/moseisley/copy-of-frisbee-dogz-showsHope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.

Let me know if you have any more questions. Having a looking through the trick guide, most (if not all my catz) do a few of them already (all my dogz do all of them up to the ball balancing ones). I had no idea they were tricks my catz were doing! I feel stupid lol. I seem to be doing all the right things in that case, it's just not consistent, only whenever they feel like doing it (like real cats lol). I'm not interested in any shows though, but thanks for all the info other than that.

Yeah, never ever pat or give them a treat if they don't do the trick you want, because it reinforces the wrong thing and will make the pet confused and you frustrated. If you want to give them a break, put the treat away first and play as normal.
When a pet *does* do the right trick, there are anecdotes that petting does indeed help reinforce the trick, but the main thing is that the treat is dropped (they don't need to eat it, it only needs to be dropped. Lucky really or they'd get very fat). If you reward for the wrong thing (happens to us all), just keep withholding until they do the right thing again and eventually the wrong reinforcement will be erased.

If it's not consistent, are you talking about random/picture tricks? Sometimes petz do trick-like animations without treats, like if you're taking a picture of them. The treat-cued tricks are a bit different and you can get them to do it consistently by dropping the treat

I didn't know there was a difference. After 15 years, I'm still learning how to play these games.

Yeah, there's a difference between the tricks petz do for the camera and the treats-based ones, though some animations overlap. Most catz don't do tricks for treats unless they have the "trickster" personality. You can find out by checking (on LNZ or the petz personality analyser) what their doggishness is or starting trick training (as mentioned in that guide) and seeing if they do any tricks.
