I'm trying to hex a toy based on the surprise box and the bubble machine. I used LNZ, a hex editor, and Tinker to do all the usual steps of hexing a toy. I definitely replaced all the sprites for the machine, box, and bubbles on LNZ and they show up fine on there.
It's just not working properly in the game. The box itself looks ok but when I take the lid off, the lid reverts to the old sprite. The bubble machine and the bubbles look the same as the old ones.
I know it's possible to hex all of these but I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong or whether there are any extra steps I've missed. I'd be really grateful if someone could help!

I wonder if maybe something didn’t get changed in the hex editor program since the sprites are changing back? I think the more complex stuff like this is annoyingly finicky 😂 since it requires more changes.
Unfortunately I don’t know the exact fix but I can definitely open these up the next time I play petz to see if I get the same issue.

That would be helpful, thanks! I checked in Tinker whether I'd replaced everything and I did. My guess is that there might be something else I'd have to edit but I have no idea what

I was actually just running into the same issue trying to edit the bubble maker into the p4 snow globe, and I think I figured out the solution! I searched in my hex editor for any instances of surprise.toy and replaced it with the name of my .toy (snwglobe.toy) and also replaced one instance of surprise?4toy with snwglobe?4toy and now everything is showing up as it should be. Maybe the same would work for you?
I was also wary to change the number of letters in surprise.toy in case it corrupted the toy, hence shortening snowglobe.toy to snwglobe.toy. Not sure if it will actually affect anything, just being careful! So heads up just in case
