I'm just starting to show catz and have been reading as much as I can about what to look for when posing/judging them, but I just wanted to check which frame is the best one for tail carriage?
In a sequence I see this:
and then this:
I'm aware that the ideal is supposed to be when the tail is at it's most curved, and I think it might be the first image, but I'm not 100% on it? Like, looking at the back edge of the tail it has a more pronounced scoop to it in the first pic, but at the same time, in the second one, the tail is more extended and part of me thinks that looks nicer, like it's the top of the pose (similar to the highest breathing point in dogz).
Also, cali eyelids... I know I'm never going to get them even, but that I should be aiming for as close as possible, but is there a preferred angle/amount of lid shown? Is it good in the above pics or should I try taking more?
Thanks in advance for any help! It's weird to be learning to pose something from scratch again! But I have some beautiful kitties I'd really like to show.

The first one is the better tail, yep! It's also helpful to think of it as the tightest curled tail- so when you have a batch of good poses you can quickly look between them and whichever one has the shortest/lowest tailtip is the one that is the "tightest" in the curl.
I'm not sure if there's something people are officially supposed to look for in cali eyelids, but I personally don't have a preference between slanted/even/wide open ones. What I look for is the closest to both eyes matching (so both even or both equally slanted/equally wide open) as you can get. Both of these poses are really close and would be great ones to use imo, though I'd place the first one higher because of the tails. :)

Thanks so much, that's a really helpful tip about the tail and will definitely make it easier to see which pic is best. Yeah, I figured with the lids there's nothing that standardised aside from not looking too wonky, lol, but there could be individual preferences etc - guess I'll just have a go at entering and see! Let the catz show learning curve continue... XD

Totally missed this until now! I just wanted to agree with Amanda, both about the fluffy curved tail and the uneven Cali eyelids, for the exact same reason she stated
I'm personally very picky about those fluffy tails when judging.

Thanks for chiming in Ratqueen! Definitely helpful to know what's important, hopefully it'll get easier as I get more practice taking show pictures of catz!
