Okay, my first ever frisbee show has been judged!
1st - JC/Coyote's Pumpkins And Zucchini 2nd - Rho's Land of Rivers 3rd - Lobb's Entre Chien et Loup 4th - Unique's When The Bird Has Flown HM - PH's Way Too Girly
I'm still figuring out exactly how I want to judge these, so will include some notes as I go to explain the placements and what I'm looking for in general:
- Perspective - angle of picture, basically. Should give a good, clear view of both the frisbee in the dog's jaws and the dog's face/body position. An angle from the side gives a great view, as is the case for BIS here, but I also really like 2nd as an alternative angle.
- Expression - ideally the dog's face should be clearly visible. Relaxed or excited looks are fine (not sure which I prefer yet...leaning towards a calm look as it contributes to an overall impression of control) but I like the dog's head to be centred. This helped in deciding between 3rd and 4th place. I also prefer it not to look like the dog is desperately snatching for the frisbee.
- Height - might not be quite the right term, but the picture should suggest a dog in control of the catch, at the top of the jump just before beginning to drop back down to the ground.
These are only my personal preferences of course. Other judges may well differ in what they like!
