I'm after some variation advice! So I was inspired by this Liver Dali OW by Buck to make a Lemon (or Citrus) Dalmatian OW. I liked the idea of having sandy but also ginger colour spot options to practice coding variations in LNZ Pro (I've never done them before!), but the original Dalmatian spot variations confused the heck out of me xD So I made two separate spot patterns and coloured one sandy and one ginger which works fine from the AC, but when bred the pups sometimes get combinations of both spot colours - it's cute, but not quite what I want the OW to do. I have used the letter coding system to 'lock' the variation (eg #2.A) but this doesn't seem to stop both colours being passed to the offspring. So my questions are: 1) Is there a way to make sure only one spot set colour gets passed down? I could just make separate OWs I suppose, but I liked the idea of having the variety. 2) Is it possible to code two separate spot colours using the original Dalmatian spot variations? To keep the pattern variations too. I hope that makes sense, variations make my brain hurt xD To clarify, I'm trying to make a Dalmatian OW that gives either sandy or ginger spots.

1) If I'm understanding correctly, you made your spots complete sets which don't change-like each dog comes out of the AC with exactly the same spots? And there is one variation with tan and one variation with orange? If that's right, then the reason your pups are sometimes coming out with both is because of the bred-petz-have-two-marking-slots thing :) Those pups are inheriting double spot patterns, one from each parent! There isn't a way to stop that as far as I know, except for selectively breeding only the same colors together.
2) I'm afraid it isn't possible, at least as far as I've been able to figure out. I've tried to do the same thing a couple times a while back, and tried everything I could think of too u_u
The way I understand it now is you can put variations in any part of the petz lnz files, and you can link any of those sections together, but you can't make variations of variations. Like you can't layer two different kinds of variations for the same section and have it work (e.g. having random paintball variations which also come in color variations). If anyone does know of a way around this I'm super interested to know!

Ahh thanks Amanda! I didn't think about the different marking slots, that makes a lot of sense!
I had wondered with Dali spots that maybe too many variations would just break the file/game x3 I will probably stick with two separate OWs for now!
