I'm not sure how to go about this because I don't have P4 to check for myself... I want to make a P4 Playpen wallpaper (EDIT: or Playscene!) out of a P5 Playscene I created. Can P4 use the 1024 x 768 pixels .BMP image that I made to create the P5 Playscene directly, or will the dimensions be a problem? Also, is P4 going to tile the image by default, or is there an option to NOT tile? (would love to see a screenshot of that option screen!) Because I do not want it tiled. And if it can be used directly and not tiled, won't it be a problem if a user resizes the Playpen larger than my image's dimensions, since it's not a tilable image? Can the Playpen be freely sized up to the screen's resolution? (so they could potentially resize their Playpen to approximately 1024 x 768 pixels to avoid seeing the tiling?) Thanks for your info and help with this!
PS: To be more specific, my P5 Playscene is just a graphic thing that acts like a big Playpen, except it doesn't tile!

Thank you Sasha!
I've been messaging back and forth with Thor just now, doing some testing. Not working like I wanted so far, BUT I may be able to make a slightly-different version of my P5 Playscene for P4. It seems the main issue is converting my true color BMP to the limited P4 *fixed* 256-color palette (someone correct me if I'm wrong). So, maybe, if I made a more plain, non-textured version for P4 using that fixed palette, it would work? Not sure it's worth it though, but we will see...

Yeah would someone be able to explain why the colors are different if the Petz palettes are the same? I'm just not graphically inclined enough to understand that part too well haha

Yeah would someone be able to explain why the colors are different if the Petz palettes are the same? From what' I've seen after our testing this afternoon, it's because the P5 graphics are true color (24 BPP), so they don't have a palette per se (no viewable/loadable palette -- all colors are available), while the P4 graphics have an indexed 256-color palette (8 BPP). So when we try to convert a true color image to indexed color palette, it goes for the closest color match (which isn't always the best from what I've seen). I hate the dithered look, so I'll probably try textureless, or compatible texture somehow.
Also, I learned from Thor today that P4 actually also has an editor to make Playscenes (I didn't remember that!). I thought my only option was to try and convert my 1024x768 pixels true color BMP to a P4 Playpen wallpaper (that I learned will force-tile).
So my next question is: are the P4 Playscenes dimensions the same as P5, which is 1024x768 pixels? (PLEASE say yes!) EDIT: I found a website that seems to confirm the BMP dimensions to make a Playscene in P4 are indeed the same as P5! Yay!
