I'm having a hard time telling when my dogz are just play wrestling and when they're actually fighting. They also do this thing sometimes where they'll "bite" at each other (they usually miss, though). I mean, it's pretty clear they hate each other when they're growling and making ANGRY EYEZ but when they do this I just have no idea. What do you tell when they're playing and when it's serious?

Oh no! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has trouble with it, at least.

The interaction I believe you're talking about is when two Dogz just take turns snapping at each other and dodging back and forth, right? Eventually it leads to one pouncing on the other and they start rolling around together. xDD This interaction isn't actually specific to either liking or disliking another pet, that I've been able to tell. I've seen enemies do it to each other, and I've seen friends do it to each other. xD I have no idea if they're playing or not, but I usually move them away from each other when they start that, but that's just me and it doesn't really make any difference.
But yeah, otherwise, like you said...it's pretty clear when they hate each other, because one pet will make angry eyes and start chasing the other, who will be freaking out and running away...that's usually my sign to try a different pair! But if they do some kind of interaction together, where they face each other and start sniffing/poking each other, or dancing around happily together, those are signs of friendship.
Then there's the rather annoying 'tolerance' level, as I call it, where they don't ever seem to chase each other OR play together. They show no sign of liking or disliking each other, so I just say they tolerate each other and leave it at that, haha!

Oh yeah, mine seem to do the "tolerance" thing a lot and just ignore each other. I hate that, it seems really weird. I'm glad I'm not reading everything wrong! The only thing that confuses me are the angry eyes. I've got at least one pet who makes "angry eyes" even when playing with toys they seem to like, so it confuses me when they're wrestling and make angry eyes as well.

Hey, I'll take tolerance over fighting though! If they can stand to be in the same room together, at least they won't get lonely, and multiple Petz get some playtime! xDD So it's not all bad!
And haha! Well, it could also depend on the breeds, or certain moods! For example, Alleys, B+W Shorthairs and Siamese almost always look angry because that's just how they are. xD I usually go by if they're not hissing or trying to hurt someone, it's nothing serious. Some are just grumps, or in a mood. I've had even happy Calico personalities get grumpy sometimes too, like if I hold them too long, or if another pet shoots past them and startles them, they seem to almost get 'stuck' glaring for a while...but they're not doing anything particularly angry, so I just assume they're a little annoyed, but it's nothing too serious. If anything it kind of cracks me up more to see how easily they can get set off sometimes. xDD

True! Though tolerance gets a bit boring and even feels kind of mean when you're introducing them to someone new haha.
I've noticed that about breeds too! My first cat in this game was a B+W Shorthair and she was just absolutely angry at seemingly everything? It was hilarious but also kind of awful. xD I sometimes have petz who make angry faces at toys they're clearly enjoying playing with, so I figure it's a tiny bit of annoyance or just making a very focused face.

i don't really know much about dogz, but i always notice catz get the "angry" eyes when they start stalking a toy or something even if it's something they like, and while they're looking at the screen like "i caught this" after they grab it to start playing with it, so i always assume that's just them going into "hunt mode", haha

Though it can be confusing when they seem to be making that face in a general direction and I don't know if it's at another pet or at a toy aha. Dogz seem to be harder for me to "read", for some reason
