I thought we could use a thread on showing that wasn't focused on pictures. XD
Topic ideas to get things started...
What's your routine for showing?
How do you keep up which shows you've entered?
How do you pick which shows to enter?

I'm not very experienced but here are my answers:
I don't have a routine for showing. I usually just take the pictures when it seems like they'd be in the mood. Sometimes they'd just rather play so I do that instead. Usually, though, I feed them before and reward them with treats and some play time after.
I don't really keep track of the shows I've entered... not ideal, but I haven't thought of a good method yet.
I'm not entering pose shows yet, so picking which ones to enter is fairly easy. I just enter agility, frisbee, tricks, etc. shows. While there's a lot of open ones sometimes, they seem to be outnumbered by the regular pose ones so it's probably not as difficult to choose!

I've got quite the routine down lol In my Petz Pix folder I have a subfolder named "Show pic stash". I keep all of my ready-to-go show pics there and pull from those when I have a petz reach SGCh and need a replacement. When the supply starts running low, I go through my crew and pick a bunch to replenish. Getting show pics of all of them can take awhile, especially for the dogz, so it's a long-term project when it happens, usually taking a week or so to finish. To get the pics, I utilize a number of tricks for dogz: -I turn on auto-save for the photos -I use PetzA to halve the game speed -I bring the energy brainslider to about 40-50 so that they aren't sleepy but aren't uncontrollable balls of energy, either -When I bring them out, I try to guide them with my cursor so that they're aligned, but if not I'll pick them up and drop them when they are (or when I think they are--I'm still not the greatest at guessing this lol) Then, I snap pics over and over. If/when the dog jumps out of alignment, I'll pick them up and realign them. When they do finally pose, I'll minimize the game and look through the pics to see if any of them turned out well enough to keep. Even if they don't, I make sure to pet the dog to praise it. Rinse and repeat, sometimes hundreds of pics later, until I finally get one that I feel is acceptable. I don't usually do all of the tricks with catz. I'll turn on auto-save photos for them, too, but I usually don't have to mess with the game speed or brain sliders for them. Replenishing my stash of catz pose photos takes faaaaaar less time than it does for dogz. Unfortunately dogz shows seem to be much more popular right now, so I run through show dogz much quicker than catz and need to "restock" them far more often lol. For keeping track of the shows I enter, I have a Word document which I keep updated with the shows they're currently entered in. This is also where I keep the image BB codes for easy access. And I'll enter any open show as long as I have an eligible pet.

i only show catz, and they're usually easy enough to get to pose once you've got it down, even the ones that are notorious for not posing for the camera well, haha usually what i do is: - turn on auto-save - take the cat out the door - guide the cat to alignment as much as possible with the cursor - if the cat starts to pose, hold down the space bar, if not, put it back and take it back out - repeat as necessary for good alignment some breeds seem to be a little more difficult, and calicoes are kinda frustrating because of the eyelids, but it usually doesn't take long for some that are fond of posing and easy to pose with just the camera (especially tabbies and russian blues), i'll just pick them up and place them into alignment and take pictures that way, but for the most part i use the out-the-door method
as far as which shows i enter, if it takes catz or weird hexies, i'll enter it, haha sometimes i have a delay between entering just depending on whether i feel like it, but that's about it

What's your routine for showing? I just casually snap pics when I notice one of my catz is eager to pose - not quite there yet with dogz! I keep the pics in a separate folder, which I pull from when I want to add a pet to the show roster. I usually have 2-4 catz that I'm actively showing.
How do you keep up which shows you've entered? For forum shows, I bookmark any I've entered (and unbookmark them once I've registered the placement). But for website shows, I've never found a way to keep track so I kind of just... don't hahaha.
How do you pick which shows to enter? I personally love collecting graphic awards, so a lot of the time, I only enter shows that offer graphics for the winners. But I also enter other shows when I'm just randomly in the mood, or have a pet that's close to retirement that I just want to get those last few points for so I can check them off.

lobb That's sort of what of I'm doing. I'm hoping if I can figure out a routine or a series of steps that are easy to repete I'll be able to enter more often. Right now it's overwhelming. I've got quite the routine down lol In my Petz Pix folder I have a subfolder named "Show pic stash". Keeping a stash of pictures is a good idea.... Once I actually have time to try and take pictures. XD For keeping track of the shows I enter, I have a Word document which I keep updated with the shows they're currently entered in. This is also where I keep the image BB codes for easy access. And I'll enter any open show as long as I have an eligible pet. Keeping the BB codes in a word doc with a list sounds like a great idea! I'll definitely have to try it, I think it would speed things up for me. . Do you keep the files on your 'Desktop' or in the folder with your petz stuff? gyiyg Umm. I was actually asking more about logging your wins, and keeping track of what shows entered... Keeping organized. I'm sure those tips will be useful later when I get around to taking Pictures again :-) What's your routine for showing?I just casually snap pics when I notice one of my catz is eager to pose - not quite there yet with dogz! I keep the pics in a separate folder, which I pull from when I want to add a pet to the show roster. I usually have 2-4 catz that I'm actively showing. Hmm... That may be another spot where I can simplify. I have two catz and two dogz currently. Maybe I should try sticking to one type at a time. But for website shows, I've never found a way to keep track so I kind of just... don't hahaha. I'll have to try the bookmarks again. I did something wrong and got confused. Maybe it was because I entered so many? How do you pick which shows to enter?I personally love collecting graphic awards, so a lot of the time, I only enter shows that offer graphics for the winners. But I also enter other shows when I'm just randomly in the mood, or have a pet that's close to retirement that I just want to get those last few points for so I can check them off. I'm starting to want to enter shows again. Hence this thread. XD

I have a "show" folder in my main Petz folder where I keep the word document, along with award images. I also have a "SGCh" folder there where I move my petz show pics once they've achieved SGCh. Until then the show pics for my current show team just hang out in my Petz Pix folder.
Also whoops for going into pic taking detail that you weren't asking for, I should read titles more thoroughly lol

What's your routine for showing?
When I have time and am in the mood, I’ll take some petz out and try to get several poses. So maybe I’ll get 4 catz posed and 1 dog posed. Then I just show them until I need to pose a set of new petz. Before I showed one pet at a time (so like, I’d show the first 2 catz up to 30 or 50 points and then show the next 2 catz) but now I mix it up. I just enter them a bunch and then count the points after entering a bunch of shows (instead of track show by show) and hope I hit around 30 haha. Often they’ll hit around 40 points so I’ll show to 50 instead.
How do you keep up which shows you've entered?
I always make sure to reply to shows I placed in with “thank you.” Then, when I have time I click on my profile and hit the button that let’s me see my recent posts. All my posts that just say “thank you” let me know it’s a show that needs to be recorded or was recorded. So I find the just find the oldest one that hadn’t been recorded yet and go from there. Hopefully that made sense. Basically I just go through my list of recent posts. I have an Excel document with a form that I can copy paste for each pet. I have an Excel formula that looks at the petz’ total points and figures out their title.
How do you pick which shows to enter?
If my pet qualifies I enter it! If it’s a not pose show, I enter if I have pics on hand or the pics aren’t hard to get.
