an experiment (and some notes on .pet-specific lnz sections)

so, last night, i decided knowing full well what happens when you post dog lnz into a cat file, to paste the lnz from the pig, directly from the pig breedfile (minus some of the header lines and with the extra variations deleted afterwards), into a freshly-adopted persian
it went about how i expected. his name is Sobby. i decided to take this and see if i could clean it up a bit (without un-omitting anything)
which was a little better. i decided to try fixing Project Ballz next, by adjusting that to the regular Persian values
which made it even worse, so i set Move to the normal values for a Persian as well
which showed me that i needed to connect a few lines differently. i decided to fix some colors while i was at it
and i got this fellow
his hobbies seemed to be running upwards infinitely, becoming completely unresponsive, and teleportation (and occasionally noticing toys and being petted)
i adjusted his coloration a little more, and then went to bed
after sleeping on it, i had some ideas, and managed to return his eye to mostly working order
his eyelid and iris are where they should be, albeit with the eyelid at a constant weird slant and the pupil seeming to not be totally sure where it's supposed to be pointing
apparently, since lnz from breedfiles doesn't have the [Eyes] section, the game doesn't have any idea where to put the eyelids or iris if you post that lnz into a pet
i also put in the [Key Balls] section (which was also missing from the breed lnz), which apparently helps the pet know where its body is in space, because adding that in stopped the infinite upwards running (still teleporting and staring into space a bunch, though)
(snitch was the donor for these sections, i also used his file to experiment with editing personality traits before, but i don't have a lot of information from that since i did it pretty much at random since there's no documentation on what order the traits are in or if they're even in the same order every time, besides one of the values i messed with apparently made him much better and more responsive at hunting mice)
after looking through snitch's lnz a little more to see which sections were in there that sobby's was missing, i noticed near the top that [Species] was conspicuously absent, so i pasted that over next
this not only fixed the teleporting and the remaining weird eye behavior, it adjusted his proportions. huh.
apparently the Species section is vitally important
i'm not sure if people knew this stuff already or not, but it was a learning experience for me, haha
edit:
part 2: a small test to see if the [Eyes] section can be utilized for nefarious purposes
(short answer: yes)
this is quantum
they are made entirely of ztrans addballs
the ztrans ball is normally hidden, since it's just a point the game uses to help project where a pet is visually on the z-axis
because of this function, quantum teleports around at various angles and generally does not move like a normal pet
however, because i set the first line of the [Eyes] section in their lnz to correspond to the two addballs i placed to be their eyes, those function as eye balls would normally, eyelids and all -- while still teleporting around with them and staying in place. fun!
