Judged!
I recommend zooming in on the image to see all pixel differences! Do reference the pose guide on December if you are unsure of any terminology stated in the comments. BIS: Cargo's All in the Golden Afternoon Comments: Look at this lovely kitty, shown here in a textbook-pose. Tabby-type legs and fur present a unique challenge when it comes to alignment; but it is acceptable to see a tuft of the left-front foot poking out behind the right front. We will also see a pixel of fuzz on that upper portion of the leg when posing this fur-type - as long as we don't see the black outline of the left front leg, we are in the clear! Luckily, we don't tend to have to worry about the eyes or eyelids being unlevel (unless this individual happens to have a Calico-personality), so we can expect smooth sailing on the portrait-standard department. What else these trusty-Tabbies can offer in the realm of challenges, is a rather confusing tail - which, at times, is obscured by the fuzzy add-ballz. Winnipeg, however, shows the maximum curvature which can be achieved by the breed-type - it almost appears straight through the mid-section, but still ends proudly pointed toward the front of the cat. With no faults today, Winnipeg earns Best in Show! 1st: CRUSHING's Rolling Kick Comments: Roan is a kitty who will keep a judge on their toes! Bringing a myriad of mixed parts to the table, it's important for me to identify leg-type, tail-type, face-type, and take a guess at his personality. With all of this in mind, I can judge appropriately based on what can be achieved by the breed-type. Roan's leg-alignment is perfect; we can expect that Maine-Coon-type legs will align without the outline of the front-left leg showing whatsoever. I can assume that Roan has a Calico personality, as his eyelids are not perfectly even. What we seek in this case, is for the eyelids to be level at the base across a horizontal line - something which has been achieved with this pose. This is also something that I consider a higher degree-of-difficulty, which is what kept Road and Tantrum for tie-ing today. What we can ask a little more of, is from this poofy Persian-type tail - not much, but even a pixel or two more curved towards his head may have changed the result of today's show. Regardless, 1st place is still a fantastic merit, which Roan has earned today. 2nd: Nostalgic/PH's My Way or the Highway Comments: A striking kitty, striking a stunning pose! Tantrum brings some Calico-realness to the table today - a leg-type, which I find to be one of the more challenging to align. Correct alignment, with this considered, will actually see a pixel's width of the left-front leg poking out behind the right-front - which Tantrum demonstrates perfectly today. Had he been aligned anymore toward the camera, we would see a pixel of the left-front showing ahead of the right-front, which would mean a fault. Where Tantrum did receive a very minor fault today was with the tail - and again, the Calico tail presents a challenge, being that it doesn't curve as obviously as other tail-types. However, we could even ask for a pixel or two more toward the head - then Tantrum would also be competing fault-free for Best in Show today. One thing we didn't have to worry about was those big, blue eyes being distracted by uneven eyes or eyelids - and with everything considered, this beautiful kitty achieves a competitive 2nd place in our show today.
3rd: Rattlesnake's Precious Golden Child
Comments: This fuzzy little panther is making a BIG impression. Dzam's dark colour and fuzzy features might present some frustration when it comes to leg-alignment, but you've obviously done your due-diligence in finding the perfect stance. Often, kitties like this can appear to be correctly aligned, but we might have to open our poses up in MS Paint, and zoom right in to really know for sure. And, while we're at it, we can check to make sure those eyes are level across horizontal plane. Dzam presents no problems in this regard today, but Russian Blue-types can be notorious for popping a pesky eye one pixel above the other! Where Dzam does lose a little fire today is in the tail-department - we can ask for a little bit more. Having your camera set to auto-save its photos can really help in this regard. 3rd place is a great achievement among today's tight competition!
HM: Crux/PearFlower's Sugar, Spice and Booze Comments: Little kitties everywhere!! Toddy is certainly no slouch, and this pose shows it. She's ready to bring the goods! However, these tiny, Calico-type legs are just barely off the mark. If we could bring her one pixel over toward the camera, we would be golden. Those gentle little eyes reveal a soft (perhaps Chinchi?) personality, and we aren't having to worry about uneven eyes or eyelids today. Like Dzam, Tantrum, and Roan, we could ask just a little bit more from this tail-type - even if it's just a pixel or two further towards the head. Even so, this is still a very competitive pose among the line-up today, and with some very minor details cleaned-up, Toddy might steal the crown! For now, Honourable Mention is still a proud takeaway. Thank you to all of our brave participants! <3
