Oh stancy, thank you so much for tagging me in your post! I would LOVE to see your art but I don't have an Instagram account, so it won't let me :'[ I keep saying I must sign up for Insta, but last time I tried I got instantly banned ( ?) so I wasn't very encouraged to try again... @-@

stancymckatt I'm glad I'm not the only one, but geez... the hoops that guy had to jump through to get his account activated?!? No way can I be bothered to go to those lengths, maybe I'll try again one day but for the most part I'll stick to tumblr where I don't have to prove I'm a human, lol! I did find out that there are sites that allow you to view Insta without an account and I managed to see your art at last Stancy, hooray! I'm really enjoying your floral alphabet so far, especially the detailing on the ruffled petals of the fuchsias, very lifelike! The face practice pages are also very impressive, I admire your dedication!

Laura 🐹 I understand why it wouldn't be worth it to you to fight with the process. It's good to know that there is a way to get it back if you wanted too though. I've tried tumblr before, and may again in the future... I'm not sure I was on there long enough to give it a fair shake. What else do you like about it? It makes me happy that you like my artwork so well. I don't keep a lot of my artwork (I can't with the volume I produce), but I'm thinking of keeping the Fuchsias for myself... For now anyway XD Face practice is out of stubbornness.. I can do ok at bodies, but not human faces. I'm tired of it. Hopefully I'll figure out a face style that I like, that I can do fast enough someday.

I guess I like tumblr because there seems to be plenty of other people into the same fandoms as I am (as well as lots of people making some seriously amazing fan art!) so there's lots of amazing art to drool over and be inspired by *o* Generally speaking, I'm really NOT into social media, but I guess I like tumblr because it feels less social media-y than a bunch of other sites? It also feels a lot easier to dip in and out of as I please. And also, just familiarity I guess, since I'd tried it a few times over the years. (Though I was still amazed with myself the other day when I finally found out how to condense multi-images posts, hahaha!) Oh do please keep at least a few of your favourite pieces, if only to look back on later down the line and see your improvement! As a teenager I threw away a ton of my drawings from that time and I regret, I wish I'd kept at least a few of those I spent a lot of time and effort on. Luckily I have scans of a lot of it, so it still exists digitally at least Have you considered keeping a sketchbook? It's so nice to have a "regular" place to work in, keeps everything nicely organised and pays off after a while once you start getting this neat little chronological collection of your art over multiple volumes (although I still frequently bounce between two or three at a time... [rofl] )
Yeah, practice definitely pays off! I decided back in...uh... *checks old sketchbook* yikes! Back in May of 2017 that I wanted to improve at drawing faces. I'm still learning and improving, but it's really encouraging to look back and see how far I've come! Finding your style is something that will just evolve naturally over time, don't worry about that for now. Focus on the fundamentals, keep practicing and it'll happen without you even noticing!

I couldn't dip in and out of tumbler. I'd catch myself scrolling though things for hours. XD I'm happy you found your fit though :-)
I enjoy looking at fan art, but I've had to quit making it for awhile. When I was on DeviantArt (deactivated my account) years ago I got into the bad habit of drawing only fan art, because it got more feedback, and got out of practice on everything else. That bad habit carried over onto tumbler.
When I joined IG I decided I would try to not do fan art for awhile to force myself to focus on my original stuff more. So far it's working well. Lots of feedback from friends, and even other aritsts.
I do keep a few things a month, sketches, and special ones. I can't keep everything though. When I'm in a drawing streak I do 1- 3 finished minis (less than 5 inches [13-ish cm] on the longest side) a day along with everything else I tinker with.
Keeping sketchbooks are fun. I finished my ink drawings one last week. :-) I have a DayTimer planner I bought that didn't work out as a planner, but I'm using the rest of it as an art journal (got the idea from several people on Instagram). Mostly ink and marker drawings of whatever is sitting around. It's been really fun!
