So Halloween is my most favourite time of year and I'm getting into the swing of it already as it's full of hexing inspiration for a first time hexer! I'm working on an Undead Dali which is suuuuuper basic at the moment, baby steps! It's just a colour swap in LNZ Pro currently, but I'm hoping to add more details and make it even grislier. The base colour I've chosen is 208 which isn't texture friendly, so here's my ultimate noob hexing question: is there a way to get texture but keep the colour? I was thinking if I made a texture that was the same colour and tried to use it ... would that be possible? x3 There's also a pesky ball or two on the ear that I can't find in the LNZ to recolour xD I tried recolouring on PW but the spots all shrank for some reason ... But yes, any texturing tips would be appreciated ^^ Edit: It comes out super green on my phone display!

You could definitely try making a texture the same color and then do it that way. Whether or not LNZ or PW messes with the color is another story. I've had that issue :c
Awesome start though! It looks very.. rotten! Can't wait to see what the finished pup looks like :3

I have to say I actually really really like this so far, the untextured colour makes it look even more undead? Like it no longer has fur where the green is great start on a hex! I can answer the spots shrinking though! Opening the file in PWS unanchors all paintballs, so if you place a 0 after every paintball (that isn’t the pawpads, as they are always unanchored and that is the preferred look for most people) the spots will be normal again!

Ahh thanks both!! Eeriedescent My goodness, I've been playing around with it and have been having that exact issue!! For some reason the game is getting the colour off by one?! And when I try to use textures made by others they are coming out all pixelated o.O it sure is a wild ride this hexing business! Sasha Thank you so much for that anchoring info, it worked!! Also I definitely didn't think about the untextured colour as skin, that's a really good point *o* I'm definitely keeping a copy of one in this form and with the hexing nightmares I'm currently having, it may just end up staying like that anyway xD xD

Thank you so much Zan, I'm really glad they're liked as they are! Maybe closer to the time I'll think of a fun way to distribute them in a trick or treat sort of way! Meanwhile, this is the struggle; I made some textures on GIMP (64x64 256 bmp) using colours from the petz chart But when I tried the first one, this was the result: ??!! I've accidentally created a brain dog?! One that the original zombie lot would probably go after xDxD I don't understand this at all! When I try the other textures, the colours are closer (as in, a shade of green not pink xD) but I get a lot of black patches?! Baffling

I’m glad I could help!!! Ohhh that’s a bit weird uhhh hm have you tried downloading a random texture someone else made and pasting your design on it? Someone else’s texture probably has the right settings for the game, whatever those are not a super technical answer but it worked for me when I was messing with putting real photographs in the frames

Just on the safe side, did you put a 0 after the texture in LNZ? The 0 is what tells petz to display the texture color and all unchanged as opposed to what I think is happening to you. For example: \art\textures\hair10.bmp 1 \art\textures\hair10.bmp 1 \ptzfiles\cat\Rb\SCREENSHOT_1.bmp 0

Sasha ooh, I'll definitely have a play with that idea and see where it gets me! I think my game is just refusing to interpret the colours I want for some reason. I made the most basic texture, 208 colour with a few darker pixels, and the game insists on it being 207 which is so frustrating because it's one colour off and I don't know why!! xD But I might have better luck with copy/paste as you suggest! Eeriedescent Squicky! What a fantastic word! I did use 0s yes, I really wish that was the issue because it would be such an easy fix ;.; Thank you both so much for your help!! <3 In my frustration, I decided to move away from the zombie texture idea and think more about the 208 colour as skin, as per Sasha's suggestion. So I decided to try an ally cat-esque design, and currently this is where I'm at: I'm quite pleased with the effect, it's definitely a lot more grisly! I imagine this undead Dali as the stage before the original one; the fur is falling off and the eye colour is just starting to fade! There are a couple of tweaks I want to make with the green patch edges, and I'm not 100% sure on some of the colours, but I'm not mentally prepared to re anchor all the paintballs again yet xD so she'll stay like this for the time being!

Ahh they look really cool! Sorry you couldn't get your textures to work though. That's always frustrating. But hey, this revision looks amazing too so no loss there, imo. As for for the painstaking process of re-anchoring paintballs.. I use this website! anchortool.petz.site/ Just copy the paintball code you need anchored, paste it into the dialogue box, click on anchor and bam! I hope this helps!

I absolutely love where these are going! The untextured vs textured body looks REALLY good. Cant wait to see the final results!

Thank you guys for your kind words, encouragement and advice!! <3 I ... think it's done?! It's not overly different from the version above, but I wanted to make some of the edges a bit more raggedy. There are still a few tweaks I would make, but the translation from PW to the actual game is just too different for me to get the detailing how I'm envisioning! But, I'm still super pleased with it, my gross, moldy child!! xD She's called Abigail because I used my pup Abigail as the base <3 I also wanted to share some other weird hexes that happened by accident along the way, mostly due to textures I made not showing how I thought they would! xD Happy accidents that I grew attached to, so I spruced their eyes and lids up. They all incorporate Pinto's blank Dali base. WILLSOOOOOOONNN
And finally, the original but with the random ear spot filled in xD crucial! But yeah, I think that's this hexing project finished!! Onto the next :3
