Hello all!
So I am in the process of starting a petz website and am hoping to share some of the fun hexed petz I can come up with with the community. However I have a question or two! Way back when, I remember most people simply hosted their hexed breeds for download. After checking out numerous petz sites that are still around though, I've noticed most of the community are requiring people to fill out forms to request a custom hex. So I've been trying to do some research and while browsing the 'request' forum, I saw in the form that you use to request a hex that it asks if you want a .pet file or a .breed file, which confused me because I assumed if you wanted a hex, you needed the breedfile for that hex. All I know is how to make a separate .breed file and share it that way...
So my question is - How would I go about making a .pet file of one of my hex breeds to adopt out, so the potential 'adopter' wouldn't need the breedfile too? And second, how would I include the texture files I might use and code it in properly? Would it need to be in a folder and directed to be placed somewhere specific?
Sorry if they're kind of confusing.. It's hard to explain. ._.
I have tried on my own and I think I'm getting somewhere but a few things are still confusing.. Namely where I should put my textures and wondering why my textures don't appear identical to the actual breed file.
I adopted a Scottie and adopted one of my hexies then opened LNZ Pro, copied the hexie LNZ info for puppy and adult and overwrote the LNZ info of the scottie. I opened up the game and my scott came out looking like my hexie, but was missing the textures. Sooo, I put the textures used in a seperate folder, put it in the resource\dogz folder and linked it accordingly in the LNZ info. I saved, took out the scott and the textures appeared, but didn't have the same exact colors/texture like the actual hexed pup does.
I feel like I'm getting close but something's not clicking quite yet. Thanks to anyone who could help or point me in the right direction. <3
