I turned on my computer today and opened up Dogz5 and it booted up as if I have never opened it before or rather like I am opening it for the very first time. Where the screen prompts you to enter your username and serial number (which I don't have as I have downloaded online). All of the original settings are then in place such as on screen tips, etc. However, all my downloaded breedfiles, all my dogz, etc. are still present. However, it does this every single time I exit the game and then restart it. I tried re-booting my comp to see if that helped but it did not. Any tips, tricks, ideas, or otherwise???

I had the exact same issue with my copy of petz 4. The only solution I could find is to right-click the icon and press “run as administrator”. This brings up a prompt asking if I want to make changes and I click yes, and then it runs fine and all my settings are still there! It’s still an annoying extra step, but I’ve found it less annoying than the serial code thing and the settings being wiped!
If anyone has a different solution, I’d love to hear it too!

Thank you so much gingerade because that seems to have done the trick. I don't mind the extra step but yes I too am open to other solutions if people have them. <3

Didn't work for me Any other ideas? I run Petz off a flash drive and it works fine on my laptop but I have this exact issue off my desktop, so it's extra strange edit: nvm It works now after the first startup that way Thank you!
