Okay, so my Petz 4 game decided to freak out today out of nowhere and now it's not opening. At all. The loading screen will still come up, but then it gets stuck. Restarting my computer didn't work. No error messages like "out of memory" or anything. I deleted all of my petz in the adopted folder, but not even that helped and it's still stuck on the loading screen. Any ideas what could be wrong??

Have you added any breed files lately? You might have too many breed files? That's what happened to me once anyway when the screen wouldn't load. So I took out breed files I wasn't using.

Nope, I haven't added any breedfiles and I don't have a lot in Petz 4, either. The ones I did have I deleted, but not even that worked. It's kind of weird because I have more breedfiles in Petz 5, but that's working just fine.

Random question...did you go to a travel playscene like the Wild West or something and stay there when you shut the game down? The last time I had this issue, P4 apparently didn't like me doing that and refused to open until I reset the registry xP
BTW I think if too many breedfiles were a thing to keep the game from opening, I'd have hit it by now. xDD Mine scrolls for ages! At least, my game doesn't seem to care how many are there.

I think my computer was just old and didn't like Petz. I've got a newer computer now and everything works just fine. XD

If you use anitvirus software other than Windows Defender have a quick check of your antivirus virus chest and see if any Petz files have been removed and placed there. I had that happen once with Avast where it suddenly deemed the game files suspect and put some of them in the virus chest when I started up the game. It did this without notifying me. Once I marked them as safe and returned them to the proper place the game worked.

That was it!! There was a strange antivirus program on my computer that kept coming up. I don't know where it came from since I haven't downloaded anything recently, so it looked very suspicious to me. I uninstalled it and now my game is working.
Thanks! <3

Thanks! <3 Be sure to google the 'anti virus' and see if you can figure out where it came from. It make actually be a virus. (I'm paranoid since I got a virus from a advertisement on deviant art years ago. )

It was called Magix. I looked it up and couldn't seem to find anything suspicious about it being a virus, but it somehow got onto my computer without me knowing which is scary. Not sure how that could have happened...maybe a similar experience to yours? Idk but I'm glad I got rid of it.

There are things that will self install when you install a legitimate programme sometimes. They're "free" programmes and not always kosher. I've had to deal with things before and gone into registry in safe mode and removed things that way because I couldn't remove them any other way.
