How do make a website like the PKC with Profiles and shows? I do not want to copy them at all. I just want to make it so people can have another place to show their dogs/other pets and get them registered.

That's database and a lot of php and CSS. It's definitely not for the beginner. I don't know much about it myself but I know it's really difficult if you're not well-versed. There have been quite a few others (VPA, DFA, DKC) that never held up against PKC because of superior coding and a good staff. I can honestly say I don't recommend trying unless you have a code monkey on hand willing to build it from scratch ^^;

Please keep in mind I'm not a member of the PKC so I'm guessing a few things from what little I can see of it. HTML5, CSS, and Java script, aren't that hard to learn... Harder to master making things from scratch though. I've only ever tinkered with PHP. www.sitepoint.com/php/ was where I was attempting to learn it. PHP requires access to things on the website's back end that a lot of the older free website accounts used to wouldn't allow. (Disclaimer: I quit using free hosting over 15 years ago.) You would probably have to pay for hosting somewhere, pay for a domain somewhere... And make sure before you paid for it that they had the programs for PHP to run available on the computer your website would sit on. You'd also be responsible for doing as much as you could to try and keep the website from being hacked into and getting your members personal information. And like Alexzander mentioned, it will take quite awhile to learn how to do all the programming well. Totally do-able if you want to sink the time into it. Computer programming is fascinating :-)

Thank you both. I think I'll figure out how to make my forum better.
