Okay, fine, they're Catspiderbatz, but close enough, right? Now, I don't mean to steal thunder from Spiderberry's excellent monstrosities down in her breeding lab, but when I signed up, I said I was working on these guys, and I'm a gal of my word. And boy, did they turn out just as horrifying as I'd hoped. I did have a bit of trouble with the bats, admittedly. Breeding with them usually caused my game to crash when I attempted to bring the offspring out. RIP the mothers lost to this bug, both of you. All the same, I ended up with two cat-bat hybrids, both boys, seen below. Meet Vlad and Rattie, respectively. Now, Rattie is kinda cute with that oversized head and those ears. Vlad, however, may leave you wondering just where his front legs are. Funny story, really. Trust me, it's an absolute riot when you hear this one. Ready? Ahem. He doesn't have any. ....I'll, uh, work on that punchline later. ANYWAY, for the next phase of this little experiment, I needed a gal for one of them to breed with. Enter BigWig. Her size is as her name suggests. Her number of legs is as the fact that she's a giant spider would suggest. Yeah if you're afraid of how this is gonna end up, you should be. At first, I mated BigWig and Vlad, because I dunno, maybe too many legs + not enough legs would equal just the right amount of legs? However, this relationship was not to last; Vlad was a bit of a deadbeat who wouldn't even help pour a cup of coffee in the morning (Which, given his anatomy.... might not actually be his fault). Then she moved on to dear brother Rattie, with whom she then had more children, for a total of five. To give you an idea of how they look, this first one is literally named "Oddball." ...you'll undestand the name when you see her siblings. She's huge, she makes spider noises, and she has no ears. Without all that you might just mistake her for some weird Desert Lynx/Calico mix. The most normal of the bunch, by far. Which makes her the black sheep of the family, too.... poor girl. Which, maybe being her isn't so bad, compared to her siblings, once you see them.. Like this fellow here. The only boy of the bunch, whom I have dubbed "Gargoyle" for his wings, stony gray body, and giant.... giant-ness. He has a random blue torso, and no legs at all. So functionally... I guess he's a caterpilar ( Get it, "Cat"erpillar)? Forever doomed to squiggle along the floor like a worm. He seems cool with it though. And look at that, he's got that funky blue torso for a pop of color! A very good boy, probably my favorite from this project. Up next: She has no mouth, and her name is Scream. Actually, she has no face at all. Just these disembodied ears that float above her torso, which are a little weird, even if they do look cute with a hat. It's a bit... hard to tell what she's thinking. Actually meows normally, though! ...Somehow. Also somehow walks on disembodied front paws, which you'd think would be more challenging. Like her brother, she has a bat tail, blue torso, and neat little wings, this time with white skin stretched across them. On one hand, the lack of face is terrifying. On the other hand... every time I look at her, I feel a little more... pleased? At peace? It's almost like she's something otherwordly, profound, and mystical. How does she navigate the world without eyes, or a nose, or a mouth or proper legs? Scream is the sort who has secrets. What are the secrets? We'll never know, for she has no way to tell us. My feelings toward Scream, however, are the opposite of my feelings toward String Theory. ...Every time I look at her, I feel a little more terrified. Yes, that's a lot of legs. Yes, that's a second spider face embedded in her torso. And yes, that's a random Calico head attached to her via skinny little neck. Also don't ask why she's wearing a party hat. She just does. This is an abomination of science and somewhere the father of genetics is rolling in his grave. I love you String Theory, you little bizarre mutant you. Just don't, you know, come too close to me. Please. And last, but certainly not least, is Scorpleo. She looks like String Theory, second face and all, except she has a tail, and different colors, and a weird blue thing going on with her butt. And you know the worst thing about String Theory and Scorpleo? They actually make normal cat noises. You might think that would make them less scary. You would be wrong. So just take that wrongness, wrap it up in a garbage bag, throw it in the dumpster, and set it alight. Good? Good. I mean, think about it. You're walking in an alley for nondescript reasons, and you hear something start hissing and crunching behind you. That's not normal. You know it's some kind of monster, and can mentally brace yourself. But if you hear mewling, and you're anything like me? You go into "Kitty, must pet kitty!" mode but instead of seeing a kitty you turn around and one of THESE THINGS is looking you dead in the eye. Come on. That is WAY more horrifying. All that said, I couldn't resist sharing these guys (or, well, one guy and many gals). I didn't have any results in mind, so they were all definitely unexpected, whether in good or terrifying ways. Let me know if you have any favorites, be it the ones you think are appealing... or the ones that scare you the most. *cough*twofaces*cough* Yeah... I think I'll just stick to normal breeding after this... wayyy fewer extra legs involved that way.

LOL I love your sense of humor in this post, and oh my gosh those results!! I don't even know who my favorite is...Gargoyle turned out awesome, but I love that Oddball is almost entirely cat...just with spider noises, how creepy!! I think though that String Theory may be my favorite...
She's HORRIFYING but that's also what makes her so epic! xD I kind of want my own now...but I also don't want to breed one LOL!! These results might be less creepy than what you -could- get! xDDD
This was amazing though, I love it! xDD Rattie is adorable too!!

I’m really happy with how they came out; glad you like them too! I’ll probably put some of them up for Adoption in the Pound in the next few days. I don’t think I can part with Scream and Gargoyle, but the rest should be fair game!

OMG I love all of these so much! They turned out awesome! And your hilarious commentary about each of them makes them even more wonderful. Or... terrifying. Either way. Those two things are often synonymous to me, because I love scary things. Vlad and Rattie are adorable. Gargoyle is epicly perfect. Scream is so wonderfully bizarre. String Theory and Scorpleo are wonderful spidercats! Reminds me of my spicermice I bred a long time ago, still one of my favorite hybrids of mine. I think Scorpleo is my favorite but it's really hard to choose because I love them all. This thread is epic!

I'm glad you liked them! I actually was poking around your site not too long back and remember reading about the spidermice (never found them to see while I was there, but they sound adorably weird!) Might have also ended putting in a, um, few, requests on your MPA once I realized we had some similar tastes, apparently!
I'm pretty sure Scorpleo and Vlad are still available in the adoption in the Pound, if you or anyone else is interested! I'd be both terrified and pleased to see what further offspring any of them would produce, hah!

Audaxity, I'm glad you are interested in the Spidermice, but sorry you haven't managed to find them. They are sneaky little beasts and like to hide. Try looking in the Wild section, on the 'Unknown' page, they are kinda near the bottom. There are lots of other weird creatures there too!
Also, I am very interested in adopting Scorpleo, I better rush over to the Pound! Vlad is tempting too, oh but I have so many petz, it's hard to keep the numbers down. Is there a petz hoarders support group? LOL
CatCreature, yes! I sent out adoptions and updated those pages not too long ago, so all petz still shown on the MPA pages are still available.
Audaxity and CatCreature, (and anyone else as well), you guys are both welcome to send in as many apps for my MPA as you want! It doesn't matter how many you adopt, I just want them to find good homes. ^_^
(Sorry for hijacking your thread a bit there. XD )

Finally found them, and they are so cute! Don't know how I didn't see the first time - I think my observation skills are going with age! And no worries about the topic shift, I was worried I'd gone overboard or done it wrong or something on the MPA. There were just so many petz!! At this rate, I'll need a support group too!
If nobody else claims Vlad, I think I'll just keep him. His little hops to get around ARE awfully cute!

Aaaww, these 2 are so cute! Love seeing the crazy breeding going on lately, and you ended up with some insane mixes. I think Gargoyle looks a little like a seal in a way. Also, you are stinkin' hilarious, truly enjoyed your descriptions of all the offspring! I had that problem with a lizard breed,I lost some lizard dog litters due to the breed just up and messing up.

Thanks much! I don't know what the issue is with breeding sometimes, but it's definitely made me more wary of breeding with untested breeds in the future with Petz I'm not willing to lose. And now that the image of Seal!Gargoyle is in my head, I can't get it out! So....naturally I had to see how well he could impersonate a baby Harp Seal. ...yep, looks close enough to me!

So I said I'd breed normal things now. I lied. The urge to go full mad scientist with different breedfiles is like an itch I can never fully scratch. Fortunately, this batch turned out interesting in a good way! .....er. Mostly. For this batch, I hybridized Velociraptors and the BH Wolf breeds. In all my creative greatness, I have dubbed the offspring "Wolfraptors." Yeah, I know, how ever did I come up with that one, right? Before we get to the pictures, it also bears noting that Velociraptors are WEIRD to breed with. Absolutely some of the most extreme Big Butt Syndrome I've ever seen. 0/10 do not recommend trying this combination at home unless you're either really dedicated or really masochistic. I spent ages trying to get results that weren't completely hideous, and wish I'd saved a few more examples of these horrors than I did. Ended up throwing some Archihond into the gene pool, too, to try to even out the proportions, and because wings are just plain cool on near anything. Yeah. It didn't help much. On the upside, when they turned out nice, I feel like they turned out really nice. Or at least really entertaining, which in my book always counts for something, but trust me I'm way too easily entertained. Ended up keeping 10 that I'm pretty happy with! I got this rough body shape quite a bit (though most were.... far less proportional). However, I actually like it quite a bit, if I'm being honest. Left to right, top to bottom, these four are Bronze Radio Return, Silent Comedy, London Midnight, and Clearwater Revival. Yep. Themed names, because I can. They're proper quadrupedal raptor... things... with a range of interesting features. Nice texture here, wings and horn there, no ears or floppy ears or pointy ears.... nothing was breeding to consistently, but I'm fond of the variety. If these four are "raptor based" bodies, the next most common group I got was fortunately wolf-based, most of which had clearly never heard of the concept of "proportions. I'm not sure which breedfile is to blame for these weird protruding backsides I kept getting (heck, in the four above, you can still some some wonkiness with the tail attachments), but the end results... well, they could be worse. Blue October, Halestorm, Walk the Moon, and Thriving Ivory! All of their tails are... a little wonky. But I'd rather than angle than a giant butt. Blue has that weird leg and eye thing going on too, but otherwise I like this batch really well? It's hard to tell here, but Walk the Moon's eyes are absolutely gorgeous when she moves, with little shimmers all through them. No idea where those and the color combination in them came from, but I won't complain. Next up is my biggest pet from this project, as much as I had to go through to get him (you call it stubbornness, I call it persistence! Probably!) I am just in love with how this boy turned out. ...I'm sorry, but... how can you look at Stone Sour and NOT feel a dopey grin creep onto your face? Look at this. He's a perfect, evenly mixed, handsy and bipedal WOLF VELOCIRAPTOR. THAT ACTS LIKE A DOG. If someone showed one of these to little kid me, I think I would have had a heart attack, because these were my absolute favorite animals that went into ever. Single. Game. I made in Zoo Tycoon. And now they have merged into one being. That barks and chases frisbees and begs for head scratchies. And even if he looks kind of intimidating, he's been really calm and friendly toward every other pet I've introduced him too. Though they still run away a lot? Huh. Wonder what on Earth that could be about. It's not like he's four times their size or anything. Silly things. And those, ladies and gents, are my new and beloved Wolfraptors, products of two species that probably never should have crossed and one Audaxity with way too much free time. Nice to see you all, hope enjoyed, but it really is time to pack up shop- Wait, what do you mean that only makes nine and I said I kept ten? Haha, of course not, I'm sure you just miscounted. A very simple mistake. ....No? Fine. You're really gonna make me do this, huh? But I'm warning you. Don't say I didn't warn you. Introducing Wolfraptor #10. AKA simultaneously the best AND worst thing I have ever created. And you thought the catspiderz were bad. Meet the tried and true, one and only, beautiful horror: Ms Lord Have Mercy I'm pretty sure she eats people. Look at her. Arms that are probably longer than is nose-to-tail. Jagged, unnaturally thing proportions. Beady little eyes. Wings that I'm not sure work, but I really don't want to find out either. And you should see her move. Those legs stay straight, her feet shuffling bit by bit while her arms gyrate like a wind-up Praying Mantis. Just... the fingers, those fingers! There's so much wrong here yet I cannot bear to part with her. Is this what Stockholm Syndrome feels like? She's horrific.... yet I love Mercy dear. Just.... don't let her around children, she probably sees them as snacks. Thus far, though, she does have at least one good friend, who ties, and might even surpass her, as strangest disaster hybrid I own. ^Literally just a floating ribcage and bit of spine. Birds of a feather and all that. Except being feathery is the only thing that could make that ribcage worse. Ah, well. S'pose monsters deserve love, too. And that, officially, is the full batch. I have clearly learned nothing from the Island of Dr. Moreau about trying to play God, but you know what, until my creations actually turn on me, I've decided I might as well go all out with the possible combinations I can make. And surely they won't turn on me, right? ...Looking at you, Mercy.... Anyway, let me know if you had any favorites, because I dunno if I could choose one from this batch myself! Even if I definitely know who's mostly likely to steal my soul in the middle of the night. Here's hoping they have insurance for that.

Everyone keeps saying Gargoyle looks like a seal XD Yeah, sure, this is just his identity now and he'll have to accept it. Though he could have turned out way worse, given you're very right about the others being scary!
