Yeah join all the board gamers online!~ There's also a lot of Youtube videos on almost any popular game to explain the rules if you're overwhelmed by reading (or just like to see how it works). Yesterday I played Street Masters boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/218421/street-mastersI'm kind of a fighting game geek (EVO day is like the Superbowl at my house) so this game's theme was really fun for me. You play a character that moves around a board and you have to beat up the enemies and the boss. It kind of reminds me of those side scrolling fight-em-ups from the arcade days (except its top-down because this is a board game). I had a lot of fun with the gameplay too! It is co-op and it felt really satisfying to punch and beat up bad guys (and shouting the moves because I'm a geek like that). I was reading some negative reviews tho saying the game would be long and repetitive but it was a lot of fun at 2 players (I imagine adding more players can get very long between turns). It was satisfying to finally beat up this boss ahaha.

I played Above and Below with 2 players and its a lot of fun! You basically build a village up above ground and get to go on adventures under ground! Not only is it a bit of strategy to build up your village good to get the most points, but its also a CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE. I like to tell a story with what the other person chooses and then we roll dice and the other player decides the result and then I TELL A STORY with the result! Aaaa so cute! In this recent game, my partner was a HUGE jerk to everyone underground. Except the cave cat-- he decided to help him out and got a cat that sometimes doesn't like to help in the village. Although it is an engine builder, its really light and easy to understand that I'd recommend it for a lot of people! Ratqueen I wonder if we could find this on Tabletop Sim! Its super cute. I'd not play it more than 3 players I think but 2 players its excellent fun and I recommend it if you can find it! boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/172818/above-and-below(this chat is just going to be Thor double posting all the time about board games ^^; whoops)

That looks like fun, and cute! I'll have to watch a video to get an idea -- I'm intrigued about that story-telling part. I see they list it as a 90-minute game though -- is that for 2 players? I only found 1 implementation of this game for TTS (made and last updated in April 2019), which doesn't look like it has a scripted setup or anything, and people say in the comments that it's missing something called the "Encounter Book", and that everyone would need a copy for it to work? The mod's author never replied or updated it. It's strange nobody else picked up that mod to improve on or update. And yeah, that's okay to double-post in this thread, since so few people post in here

And yeah, that's okay to double-post in this thread, since so few people post in here It didn't take that long for us but we both watched Rodney's How to Play video ahead of time: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wNaS1HxA-QSo we knew how to play and our choices and the game went super fast!! I think it took us 30-45 min for 2 players? I didn't time us but I feel like we started late-ish (after 8:30pm) and when we finished I saw it was like 9:30pm and I was like "wow! that was fast!" The storytelling part does take a bit of time so probably adding a 3rd player I could see how it could go to 1 hr and 30 min. I also wasn't always choosing to "explore" which is the "choose your own adventure" part because I was working on my village a lot. And I guess you'd have to find a pdf or something of the story telling book huh? That's the Choose Your Own adventure part. I have a physical copy of it.

I play board games with Ratqueen and Buck over Tabletop Simulator on Steam store.steampowered.com/app/286160/Tabletop_Simulator/We've been playing every Tuesday around 6:30pm PDT / 9:30pm EDT. I'm curious if others might be interested in playing with us? Feel free to PM me :) Also, boardgames in irl--I've been playing a lot of board games with my partner...! Arkham Horror -- boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/257499/arkham-horror-third-editionI did a little roleplaying with this game. I randomly picked the hottest character: /swoon The Flannel Shirt 😂 The characters come with backgrounds and the goal is to work together with the other characters to save the world from some horrible monster spawning. Silas was tough but he cared about people. In the end, he cared too much about the woman he was hanging out with and risked his life for her (because I forgot a rule where my ally was supposed to take damage for me instead whoops so uh he risked his life yeah) And then I got: We ended up not being able to save the world.... boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/218948/apocalypse-roadThink Nascar Racing but you can attack/shoot the other players! boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/142379/escape-planSteal a bunch of money and get out before you get caught-- a pretty heavy and complex game but great design and fun!

2021 is here! And we played Mage Knight :) Its a fun little exploring style board game! My partner and I usually alternate cooperative and competitive games (so I don't want to kill him all the time). And we'd been playing Lord of the Rings the Card Game-- a fun but challenging cooperative game based on the books. I love the theme of the game so much (because LotR is an awesome theme). We'd been stuck on this one challenge for like a week (very bad luck and bad decisions made us have to replay the same scenario at least 5 times). When it came time to set up a scenario for Mage Knight, my partner was like "well since we played cooperative LotR last-- we should do a competitive version of Mage Knight." But WAIT! The last game I played (snuck it in between Lord of the Rings and Mage Knight) was Res Arcana with Ratqueen !! And he kicked our butts in 4 turns in the most brutal of ways (sorry Ratqueen 🤣 I did warn you tho....) So we ended up playing cooperative Mage Knight :) we were too sleepy last night to finish it but we're on the final boss and managed to push thru her minions! This is the last possible turn we have so we have to beat her tonight!!!

I ended the game with ONE whole point Quite pathetic but, like I said, I'm ready to lose any game against him like a champ! I like co-op games, so I looked up Mage Knight... but wow, it lasts 60 to 240 minutes?! My kitties would die of starvation before we're done with one session! (more likely, I would have 2 cats walking back and forth in front of my keyboard to let me know what they think of lenghty games encroaching on kitty meal time ).

Yeah, it's why I've not suggested we play it hahahaha! My partner and I just keep it set up on the table and we take breaks in between the resetting rounds part to eat snacks or cook dinner. We didn't finish the game last night but because it's on a table we can just pause and walk away. We'll finish it tonight :)

Oh wow, nice to see lots of other board game fans here! My Mum and I are the only ones who are into board games in our house, so we play a lot of (but not exclusively) 2-player games. Our all-time favourites are probably Carcassonne and Quirkle, but we also really love Cottage Garden, Jaipur, Fungi/Morels, Labyrinth, Odin's Ravens, Whot!, Sorry, Scrabble and more I'm probably forgetting right now. I particularly love games with beautiful art/pieces and/or unusual concepts etc. We also own a Wallace and Gromit themed board game called "Fleeced!" which has a beautiful board, and all these adorable little plastic sheep... oh, and it's fun to play, too! I'd love to play some of those with more players, but I don't know many peeps IRL who are into games. There's also other games and/or styles of games I'd love to try, but I know Mum just wouldn't be into. She also gets "analysis paralysis" quite a lot sometimes, so I try to avoid any games that are *too* strategic else we'd never finish playing... [rofl]

Oh I love Carcassonne!! Games where you can choose to cooperate or compete and change your mind as you go are the best hahaha.

Laura 🐹 , I know and love most of those games! I actually have Carcassonne, Cottage Garden, Jaipur, Morels, and Labyrinth (and plenty more) on iOS! I'm a "little bit" board game obsessed. I have a hard copy of Odin's Ravens, and recently found it on Tabletop Simulator, too -- fun little game for 2 players! Do you play digital versions of those games, or hard copies only? If you have any on iOS, we could play some games asynchronously.
Do you happen to have Tabletop Simulator on Steam? (if not, it's frequently on sale @ 50% off). I used to play exclusively with my partner, cause we don't know anybody IRL who want to play with us either. But Tabletop Simulator opened new horizons! Also, Arie , if you want to play TTS with me sometime, let me know! I can accommodate European-friendly hours, too (I think you're in Europe?) I found a scripted version of Telestrations (which I've never played yet) on TTS, but we need a minimum of 4 players. Anybody wants to play? You're invited! It's kind of a mix of Pictionary and broken telephone -- should be fun! I recently encouraged my non-gaming sister to buy Tabletop Simulator. She'd never used Steam before, let alone a digital board game. I found a really nice new game to play with her for her first try -- not too long, not too hard -- and mostly, a game themed around one of her passions: dogs and agility. So, low and behold, I managed to find a game named... Agility ! Bullseye! She loved it! Turns out it's a really good game and I love it too! ^ Agility
