Now that Jupiter is SGCh, I want to ask some advice, opinions on which of these are good poses. I actually just have no idea as they all did well/unwell randomly. I am not terribly good at alignment, but I think A4 is the best aligned here. I've read "the bigger the gap between the back legs, the better" but A3 might be TOO wide of a gap. One of my goals is to eventually host my own shows, but I feel I am not completely sure of which poses are good depending on the catz size, shape, legs, etc. (I'll get there eventually!) And I guess while I'm creating this thread, I might as well ask about this pose here: I think I did a good job with alignment (I am cheating because the cat has a symbol in the center stomach that might become a line when completely straight?)

I don't really pay much attention to the back legs since they usually fall into place if you get the front right. It's a little harder since Jupiter is black and you can't really see the leg outlines. I took A1's front legs and put it next to A3 You can kind of see towards the top on the right/front side it looks like the outline is doubled which could be the other leg poking through. Not everyone is that picky though so might be why it placed well sometimes. I'd say alignment wise A3 and A4 are good, but I'd say A3 is slightly better because even though calis pose with weird eyelids I try to get a pose with them as equal as possible. If 2 calis were in a show of mine with both perfect alignment but one has really uneven lids while the other is a lot less drunk looking, I'm going to place the more sober looking guy higher 404 cat is great

I feel exactly the same as Midnightworlf said.
It is particularly difficult to tell which leg alignment is best with Jupiter, because not only is he black, but he is fuzzy. I personally prefer A4 for the leg alignment because it looks more even to me (leg is the same width from top to bottom), but of course the eyelids on A3 are best, and I would definitely take that into account IF there are two similarly posed Calicos in the show.
There's also something else I noticed with Calico front legs: when the cat is on the skinny side (which is hard to tell whether it's the case or not with Jupiter, since he's hexed and fuzzy), the leg tends to be thinner near the top and slightly wider near the bottom. When posed, more pixels from the second leg shows near the top than is usual for a 50%-weight Calico-legged cat. You can kind of see what I mean by comparing Jupiter's front legs to the 404 cat. 404 cat's front leg is clearly wider near the top (also, perfect alignment), and Jupiter's A3 pose shows that her front leg is slightly wider near the bottom, which to me indicates he might be slightly underweight. But since Jupiter's black and fuzzy, we can't really tell whether more pixels than normal shows from the other leg near the top.

*takes notes* Thank you for all the advice! Midnight I never really noticed the legs until you zoomed in on them! Also, I realized that the nose is better centered in the photos you pointed out as being good (I never look at the face!). Ratqueen, Jupiter might be slightly underweight ^^;; sometimes PetzA doesn't open in my game so I just play without it and I think that catz just don't eat enough to stay a healthy weight >> I love hearing input from judges because both of ya'll like different things from the different poses. Makes me happy that effort to get different poses may pay off for different shows ^^ Thank you all for the advice! <3
