Hey guys! So it's been a while since I've been in/held shows, and need a little advice because I have never before tried showing catz, my first time showing OBs. I read the guide, and I think I've got a good grasp on it. Here's the handsome devil: He's at 100 on brain sliders, has a fantastic alley look, and a chinchi personality. My questions are as follows: first, what eyelids are more desirable for chinchis - sad, wide, no preference...? He keeps giving me the slightest sad eyes every time lol...or are they alley eyes? Second, are any of these acceptable/good poses? pic #2's tail is a little funky, but am I at least on the right track with him? Advice is much appreciated!

Aah, what a sweet alley-chinchi! Slanted/worried/sad eyelids are natural to chinchillas (although they sometimes pose wide-eyed), and it’s all fine to me as long as they’re even. I have no preference. For the tail, the one in the center that looks a bit different from the other two showcases the effect of the maximum “curve” achievable for the alley broken tail, and so is the most desirable in my opinion. The broken tail at its maximum position towards the cat’s head appears slightly shorter, with tighter breaks, and the last ball at the tip of the tail points a bit more to the right. The legs alignment looks the same to me in all 3 poses, but I’m looking at them with my iPad so it’s not ideal for a closeup look and to compare. All 3 poses are very good, with #2 my favorite because of the best alley tail “curve”. I’m looking forward to seeing your kitties in the show ring!

Thank you!~ he's quite darling. Also, thank you very much for the advice/critique and explanation - it's exactly what I was looking for to lead me in the right direction, and I greatly appreciate the help! It's very interesting to learn about what an individual catz's ideal pose looks like when both personality and physical features are taken into account. I'm glad his poses were very good and that his funky alley tail is a-okay, because I'm greatly looking forward to showing ASAP!
