Oh! Could I bug you for links to a couple of those servers Cad? You can pm them to me if you don't want to post them on the forum.
Thor, that's brilliant. I have a lot of fun with my group. But it really depends on what kind of group you're in. If it's more about battles and rolls than story telling it can be a bit much. One of my favorite characters came from a DnD campaign. It's fun to habe to stop and think of what the character would and wouldn't do. Like my character Atius, he has issues with vines with purple flowers specifically and vines in general. Hot stuck in a time loop and he's kinda got some ptsd from them. Well some appeared in front of him, logically he could have cut them down with his sythe or done a small spell. Instead he panicked and threw a giant fire ball that burned down a village.
Dialogue is super hard to write. It's awesome that you can do that so well.

Dialogue is super hard to write. It's awesome that you can do that so well. I find writing descriptions/actions is super hard to write! I get into character (similar to D&D) and play out a conversation with myself. That's the easiest way to make up a dialog haha.

My favourite character development idea so far is that my friend and I decided to pit our most charismatic and talkative characters against each other in a debate... About the best shape for sandwiches, rectangle vs triangle. Edit: ooh you wanted server links? discord.gg/RwmNZ2p here is mine! It's a small OC chat with roleplays.

Thor I do that all the time and I still struggle with dialogue. I'm far more likely to say "And then Tabor told Jason how he was wrong." Than write out the dialogue. It doesn't help that I don't know any other language really and Tabor knows a bunch and he frequently flows from one to another and back again when talking. Sasha Awesome! Thank you for the link! Also that debate is amazing. For the record the OC that says Triangle is the right one.

^ I've worked a lot with comics and scripts when I was in middle school. A lot of my fan fiction was always in dialog/script format because it was far easier than actually writing. I actually find it interesting that someone would say dialog is hard. I never thought it was a talent; I just thought it was "lazy writing".
Also, when playing D&D, it keeps others in character if you say dialog instead of describing intentions. It makes all the other players talk in character too :3

It's easy to write and get it sounding rough and robotic but to have it be 'real is super difficult. Yeah DnD we definitely actually talk. And if we slip out DM makes it a thing. Like one time one of us made a comment about gnomes not being people and it became a thing that that character(who had a very low Intel stat but high strength) didn't like short people. Anyone under 4' was not a person to this barbarian but their best friend was a dwarf that was 4'1" and "You're barely a person." The dwarf didn't like him she fed mushrooms to his pets and killed them.

Not petz related, but I know there are people in the community who do writing. My issue with just about every group(except our very own Sasha's) that I've joined is they're filled with toxic unhelpful people. So I'm attempting to make a place for people to go to talk about story/world/Character development as well as craft itself. I'm not limiting it to "writing" in the traditional sense either. As far as I am concerned any type of story telling is valid. I know for sure there will be at least one person who tells stories via comics. So yeah....if anyone is interested. discord.gg/eqjs9kA
