Not sure if this is right place or not because it's not to do with hexing breeds but editing toys.
Anyway I was using the tinker program to make a custom toy but I can't get it to work so I must be missing something.
I tried before in the past with petz 5 but edited toys were hard to get to work. However I thought I would try with this petz 4 I have as I heard it can be easier but it's not working! Is there anything I can do? I'm using windows 10.

Assuming you aren't making an overwriting toy: First I'd recommend opening your toy file in LNZ pro and going through to make sure you've made the necessary changes everywhere. There are a lot of places where you need to change the sprite name, so check them all to make sure you didn't miss one, not forgetting the ones you need to change in a hex editor. Also make sure you changed the toy name under RCData, keeping in mind that with some toys you need to keep the name the same length. One of the most common reasons for a toy not showing up correctly is an ID clash. You want to make sure the offset number you changed it to is not the same as one already in use by another toy in your game. Some numbers just don't work anyway, so keep changing it and restarting your game to check the toy closet for your toy until you find one that works.
I'm thinking about doing a tutorial on this. Maybe that would be more helpful.

Yea it's hard as I haven't found any good tutorials, I am sure I used to have a tutorial somewhere (back when I used the even more annoying for editing toyz petz5 though) but I can't find it. When I open with LNZ Pro and change the sprite names (the rcdata seems alright) using that and try to save the file it doesn't open again. It comes up with a message saying file may be corrupted or something else. I tried making an overwriting toy too which didn't work either :/ but I may try again with that.

This site was suggested often in old topics but since it was dead I used waybackmachine and got the Tinker tutorial/images to show up. It talks about the sprites and common problems so maybe it'll have the answer. It mentions multiple places to change sprite name, maybe you missed a spot? I'm not a toy maker but I'll try to help if that tutorial doesn't fix the problem. Just need to know exactly where/what you changed and to what it was changed to. Screenshots are really helpful.

I tried the tutorial which helped quite a bit though haven't had success yet. I got past step 1 but I think I probably made a lot of mistakes in the hex editor as my one isn't as clear as the one in the image separated by space lol (or maybe I am editing the wrong part hm). I am trying to only change all the names by one letter. I have used the find tool a bit too.
