Hi everyone, I was just wondering is there any way to add some of the old behaviors that used to be in Petz 2 back into Petz 4? For example, This thread talks about how in Petz 2 dogz used to do this adorable groovy dance when they heard the music box, and another interesting quirky behavior. But unfortunately they removed this in Petz 4, would there be any way to re implement this through hexing the game files? It would be so cute if dogz could dance to music again. Thanks

Doesn't sound possible, I don't think. Even if you import any of the Dogz from that game to the other, it still won't work. What a shame really... I guess the Dogz aren't much of a dancer than they used to be Although, speaking of old behaviours...

Oh buggery. There has to be some way to get those good old behaviors back. And Also Lmao! I've seen that before and that's hilarious, it's petz deep dark secret xD I couldn't believe it when I first found out about that. Too bad they didn't keep that and let it be in future petz games, they'll also do that to baskets. I witnessed it when I had Petz II installed but sadly petz doesn't want to work anymore on my Windows 8.1 anymore do you have petz II? I'm interested in seeing if there are any more easter eggs buried in that old game, it's gold.

Whenever I try to install it, it says my computer is incompatible. I mean I know why it's because the game is so old xD but I'd think there would be a way

You could install the game with a virtual Windows like VirtualXP or VirtualBox. If P2 worked on XP, you'd install the VirtualXP, then the game inside the VirtualXP. It's all legal too. Windows 8 offered a Virtual XP but don't believe 10 does since the XP security flaws now.

✬MsWildiful✬, I had that game installed on a Win98 SE virtual machine, under Virtual PC 2007. Works well with it too

I think needing or not needing a virtual box has to do with running a 32 versus a 64 bit version of windows? I'm pretty sure the oldest petz games are 16 bit meaning they can no longer be run on 64 bit computers. I have a Windows 7 from 2009 that's running 32 bit and I have no problems whatsoever with any old games, Catz runs like a dream!

I have a Windows 7 from 2009 that's running 32 bit and I have no problems whatsoever with any old games, Catz runs like a dream! That would be because 32-bit programs run exceptionally well on 64-bit systems. Not the other way round though, obviously. And yes, 16-bit programs cannot run on Win7 and beyond.

I'm confused, isn't this basically what I said? My Windows 7 is 32 bit which is why it runs 16 bit games like a dream. If you've got 32 bit you can run 32 and 16, if you've got 64 bit you can run 64 and 32. However because all my games are old I have no use for 64 bit so my 32 bit computer is perfect. I have a Windows 7 from 2009 that's running 32 bit and I have no problems whatsoever with any old games, Catz runs like a dream! This is basically what I said here. I have a Windows 7 computer running a 32 bit version of windows, which is why I have no problems with any old game, Catz (the original, 16 bit) runs like a dream!

Hope it's okay to resurrect this thread, But I just discovered that some of the old behaviours like the dancing and stuff that I mentioned earlier is still in petz 4! I was browsing through Petz 4's animations in Petz workshop, turns out they have oddballz animation as well! and the old ones are still there So how come we can't get dogz to dance when we put the music on, or do the thing when we spray catnip on fleaspray? xD I mean come on, the animations still there, what's holding them back? =P lol there's gotta be a way

They maybe forgot to add them to the game or removed them from the dogz. There's code in the pet file for making a cat a trickster or not, so maybe there's something for making a dog a dancer? But if not, not sure.

But if not, not sure. That's possible. It's obvious why they'd remove that one behavior but why the dogz dancing one? they must have forgot to add the dancing behavior into the other games. There may possibly be something in the pet file to make them dancers like with catz sometimes being tricksterz like you said but this might not be the case because none of them are dancers, people have tested it before and even if you import a dog from Petz 2 into Petz 3 or 4 they won't dance It may have something to do with the Dogz Rez file, apparently that's where all the animations are stored. I've tried opening it before but it makes no sense to me, it's all a bunch of random looking code. If I could understand it maybe I could allow the game to use those behaviors? hmmm
