I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I didn't want to bother the mods with an application just to ask questions when I don't actually know anything.
I found out about these games years ago, from a friend who got really into it, but I couldn't get them to run. It's been a long time since then, but I've been reminded of them and decided to try again. From where should I begin? What version would you recommend I set up on my pc? Is there any sort of, 'beginners guide' or something of the sorts?
Thank you in advance, and I'm sorry for cluttering this board.

There's not really a general beginners guide that I know of since community interest in the game can be focused around just breeding petz, hexing (file editing), showing, and even natural raising (playing the game without the use of a program called "PetzA", which lets you see and manually change the petz "stats")
Which version really depends on your preference, though most people use Petz 4 because it has less bugs and P4 files can go in any petz version, while Petz 5 only works with Petz 5.
You could always search around Petz Links and get an idea of how people play the games, though you'll probably want an account when you realize how there's a lot more to the game than people first see :D

I just wanted to get a general idea. So, the recommended is Petz 4? I'll get it, then, and register an account. I'm really interested in the community and in the game, so I'm curious about what can be done! Usually I love breeding games, so it seems like I can have a lot of fun with this. Thank you for the reply!

I personally much prefer Petz 5 because, in my opinion, it has more to offer, especially if you like breeding (you can breed litters in Petz 5, versus just 1 baby at a time in the older versions). It also comes with extra breedz and environments to play in. I also just approved your account, so welcome to RKC! Have fun!

I might give both a try, and see where it goes from there. I'm excited to get the chance to play the game I remember hearing so much about, so I'm going to be lurking around here and try to learn a bit more about it! Thank you so much!
