Hello! I have been working on posing this cat today following Ratqueen's guide. I do NOT have an eye for this and I was wondering if any of these poses had a correct tail set, I feel that the legs need work, but the fluffy tails are really confusing for me and its hard to know when its where it needs to be in the arch shape. A B C D E
I promise that there really are five different images!
Thank you all in advance, your time and help is so much appreciated!
Second Cat: (Again with the fluffy tail placements, skinny tails rule!!)
A B C D E
(I believe D is his best pose, but I am VERY unsure.)
Third Cat: Meezer (WHY, Just WHY. My eyes hurt and I cant find any info on proper posing of Meezers.)
A B C D (I believe either C or D are her best poses.)
SO sorry to be a huge bother, I just cant seem to make a confidant decision in regards to the floofy tailed poses!

The legs all look good to me, but the tails are definitely off on B, D, and E. They're just not as far over the back as they need to be. The very tip of the tail needs to achieve maximum curvature over the back. This is how I judge tails: I zoom in and draw a box starting right at the base. This cat is good because the very top pixels of its tail are all on the right side of the blue dot. As far as I could tell, A & C had the same amount of tail curvature. If one had been an extra pixel of space between the blue dot and the edge of the tail, I would say that one was the best pose, but it's definitely possible that it's the best this cat can do with its tail. It looks right to my eye. This cat would definitely have a chance at placing highly in a show I was judging So excited you're going to start showing BTW! Edit: Just wanted to add that while this is how I judge tails and would judge this tail, not all tail types are so clearly to the "right" of the middle, like calico tails for instance are stiffer so it's not fair to fault them for not having all their pixels to the right of that box. But you do want it to be as close to that as possible--it just looks different with different tails.

I agree with the above. I think A and C are really nice poses! As a judge, I put a LOT of emphasis on whether the cat's tail is curved as much as it could be. I know some judges aren't as picky about tails and are more about alignment, and some are more about eyelids - it is subjective, but I think a tail that's off sticks out like a sore thumb because it's easiest to spot right off the bat. Your alignment work is great by the way!

Thanks for the help guys! I was glad to hear that her alignment was better than my very untrained eye believed it to be. I'm super excited to be showing!
Thank you Paige for that amazing rundown, I was really trying hard to follow the guide, but for the fluffy tails I was just not getting it! This cleared up my confusion perfectly!
Smonikkims, thank you for the alignment compliment, I had no idea and thought it was still off. What constitutes a good pair of eyelids? That sentence was funny to type!

Eyelids just have to be equal on both sides imo, unless of course the cat is a calico (then it won't ever pose with aligned eyelids). I find a pair of beautiful straight RB eyelids to be very impressive (and RBs always pose with their eyelids like that). I think you don't really need to think about them that much. The cat will usually take care of it. Oh, Maine Coons are good for eyelids too. They always have wide open eyes with no eyelid showing!

Agree with smonkkims on eyes, the only catz that I don't enter into shows based on eyelids are calicos, and that's only when they're REALLY bad. Like one eye is a full halfway closed and the other eye is wide open. Even then calicos with large discrepancies in eyelids can still place quite high, for example this pose: ...won four BIS and three 1st place, because it's obvious the eyelids are due to her "jokey haha funny" calico personality. Second cat: E is the only one that doesn't have a great tail. The others are all fine. This is a personal preference, but C and A look the best to me, the very tippy top tail ball is over to the right of the tail. B and D have tails that look a little more stretched out (thinner), which some judges might prefer, I'm not sure. A-D are all great poses though, and I would keep them all in a folder if you're planning on doing shows at the Petz Kennel Club since you have to swap out pix every month or so. They're all good! Third cat: I don't have nearly as much experience with meezer poses as standard poses, however B & D seem to have clear faults in that too much of the left front paw (the one that's behind) is showing. I downloaded & zoomed in on A & C and I think A is slightly better, the hips seem to be up just a little bit and the nose also seems more pointed in the air. But as far as the foot/leg showing and back leg extension they are identical. The tails seem comparable. I'd definitely be interested hear what other judges think of the meezer poses.
