Some people prefer the "Petzy" style of Catz and Dogz, good enough to pass off as the official thing or the "Realistic" kind. My question... what do you prefer?
For me, I honestly like Petzy ones the best and I don't need to state my reasons why. I'm a little okay with realistic-looking Petz only if they're not going to throw up any faults and errors when breeding with them. Even so, I'm not really a fan of them.

depends. i love realistic hexies and prefer them over "petzy" hexies, but for breedfiles or show petz i prefer petzy.

I like "petzy realistic"? Think 10+ years ago realistic files.

Personally I like petzy for the most part. I like some realistic breeds but it really just depends!

I prefer Petzy ones because they tend to breed better and because the realistic ones move funny.

I prefer petzy because they kind of just fit the look of the game better and the mutations are more fun! I would like the realistic, showy breedz more if they didn't have such wonky walks and if we could get non-alien mixies out of them.

I'm not sure what exactly classifies as "realistic", but I prefer between the two. For example; I guess most would consider these more realistic than petzy, but they still move 97% like petzy hexies. It's more about movement for me. If it looks realistic and moves like a regular ob, that's what I like. I prefer if over pure ob files because there are more unique looks.

I think in general I prefer "petzy", but I quite like realistic when they still have a petzy look to them, so some where in between. The petz Jewellz linked are a good example I think I was also very keen on the CK petz as they felt like a good mix of OB and realistic to me, it's that cute factor. I definitely feel the same as others about movement!

I'll join the chorus on the side of Petzy because of how the very realistic ones move. I'm impressed by the hexing skillz involved in the realistic ones, but I play petz as well as show them and I need to have both options.

Definitely petzy for me! I do like the petzy/realistic Jewellz posted too, those look nice.
I like to breed mixies most of all, and I love the different combinations we can get out of all the original petzy breedz (especially love to mix with the P5 breedz -- so much variety when added to the mix).

agreed with ratqueen and jewellz - i love petzy realistic. but if forced to choose, i wouldn't hesitate to go with petzy. realistic are BEAUTIFUL in pose, and those markings? incredible. as a fan of animals and the unqiue qualities between each breed, i think it's SO COOL that we can get these super cute, accurate representations of them in our eighteen something year old game. so fluffy.
but as everyone else mentioned, the fact they deform, mutate, breed terribly between files, and only look good in pose (yesterday i decided to go through some old files and maybe adopt a few show dogz for future showing, and was terrified at how deformed some breeds looked outside of pose, with their necks yanking back, their legs going every which way, etc) puts me off from pursuing them long term. but they are still gorgeous and the work that went into them is incredible!! i just prefer something i can snap pictures of and watch run around and be silly while still looking their cutest.
sorry, im really passionate about pixel animals.

Petzy all the way! No competition. Petzy as in how they move and as apposed to showy. I love realistic hexies like for example Star's.

Pretty firmly petzy. I like the "petzy realistic" from upthread, those look pretty petzy to me. But one of the reasons I love Petz is the breeding, and the realistic just don't mix well. It's the same reason I strongly prefer OW files to separate breedfiles as well. Plus there is just something so charming about the OBs, with their big eyes and all that, that is often lost with realistic petz. Every now and then I see a realistic one though where I'm like "eee cute."

I like to look at realistic, but I won't download or play with them myself. I very much prefer petzy, they work better with the environment and it just feels more fun. I do feel amazed at the hard work people put in to make some look super realistic, it's beautiful, just not my thing.

Realistic hexes are impressive but my personal favourite is Petzy; realistic hexes can jut out and make for quite a funny contrast amongst your big-eyed palz.
