I like pose #3 the best.
Looking at the back legs tells you how the cat was angled when it posed. More to the left = more space between them and more front leg showing on the left side, more to the right = less space between them and more front leg showing on the right side. The angle will also affect the way the tail curve looks.
The reason I like #3 best is because the cat looks better angled overall, and the amount of leg showing on the left side looks less significant than the amount showing on the right side in the first two poses. The tails look a bit shorter/less extended/more evenly curved in poses #1 and #2 because of the slight right angle of those poses. Tail #3 is a little straighter, but rather typical of a Calico-posing tail. It's always difficult to tell if a Calico tail is in its optimal position or not -- with #3, you'd want it slightly more curved, but it may already be at its best. I wouldn't fault for it, unless I have to compare two similar tails.

Thanks Ratqueen! I hadn't noticed that before, but now that you mention it, it does look like the left side of 3 is showing less leg than the right side of the others'. So that space where the foot meets the leg on the left side of 3 isn't a huge deal? Or should I still work on this pose? This cat's coat is also weird because it's not exactly smooth but it's not fuzzy either, so when I zoom in on its legs they're kind of rough and it's hard to be sure if it's just its low level fur sticking out or if it's actually misaligned.

You mean that space between the back legs? It's fine. In the olden days, a lot of people thought that a pose was better the more space there was between the back legs -- that's how I was originally taught to pose catz. Then I realized that was wrong, because the space between the back legs is fixed for each different cat. Meaning, if the cat is perfectly parallel to the camera, the space between the back legs is what it is, it can't be changed (unless the cat is angled differently, but then it would show on the front legs).
The Oshie's fur texture has that slight fuzz. It's like when you have a cat with stripes, the stripes themselves stick out a bit on the leg -- I don't see that as a fault, unless it comes out more than 1 or 2 pixels, depending on the fur's fuzz. On Cat #3, I'd say it's just the fuzz sticking out, while on the other 2 it's a bit of leg, too.

In the olden days, a lot of people thought that a pose was better the more space there was between the back legs -- that's how I was originally taught to pose catz. I remembered something like that when I just started showing too--I was having a preference for big back leg gap rather than perfect alignment of the front legs. But then I saw just what you said--you can get a huge back leg gap if you have a badly aligned cat, so that's no good. In my last question though I was asking about the front legs of #3... there's that little bit of the second front paw showing near the bottom on the left. I know that's normal for calico legs/paws, but it just seems like kind of a lot of foot. I just don't know when that piece of foot is "too much" foot, and I think in this case it might be too much foot? Do you think I could get this kitty better aligned or should I just stop worrying about it because it's fine?

Mmh, I would probably give it another try to see if 1 pixel could be shaved off the left side, yes. Hopefully, nothing will stick out on the right side then I think it may be possible. Maybe that'll also give you an even better Calico tail.
