I just got finished selectively breeding traits into a cat I want to show. He has an orange shorthair personality and he is SO FREAKING SPAZTIC. Every time I try to get him to pose he either SPRINTS across the screen.. or does this.. Sooo... can orange shorthair personality cats pose? Or is something wrong with this guy?

I recall reading somewhere that they can sometimes go into a showpose when you bring them out the Petz door. But it's kind of more tricky, because you have to catch it at the right time and line them up properly...
So I think it IS possible, but tricky. Other people will probably give you a more in-depth answer though. xDD

Yes! When you first bring them out of the petz door, sometimes they will walk towards your cursor and do a really quick pose, but unless you put your cursor in just the right spot, they won't be aligned.
You can align them facing left ( <----- ) and then spray them with perfume and sometimes their reaction will be to jump and flip around, then pose. It's tricky because sometimes they will look at the perfume (if you're still holding it) instead of at the camera, and it's hard to get the alignment right, but when you finally get a good shot, you feel so accomplished.

Also to note, they can pose if they have a different personality other than their own. The same with Alleys they usually spit at the camera. I also saw that at Intron/Exon, they can pose through the use of the Perfume or Love Potion, and they'll pose like the others that way.

Thanks for all the advice guys! I tried both methods, the perfume one worked the best. I actually got a perfect pose out of him doing it

The perfume method has been gold for me in getting difficult petz to pose. It doesn't work on ALL of them but I've gotten it to work on a few alleys. Something I don't see other people mention is rewarding them for it.
My method is: - spray them with the perfume and start snapping - if they don't pose, try again - when they do pose, snap away until they finish and then reward them (I alternate petting them & treats) - eventually they will start to pose on their own when they hear the camera, without using the perfume, which is preferable because you get their actual eyes instead of their worried eyes (some will still have worried eyes when they pose, so I guess it's normal for them)... some of my catz it's only taken two tries before they pose on their own without the perfume, some it's taken 10 or more tries.

That's funny you bring up rewarding them, because I had done that whenever I got him to pose with the perfume. I didn't think it would actually train him to do it on his own, I just felt he deserved it for actually posing. I'll have to work with him more so I can get him to do it on his own, then. Thanks for the advice!

Okay whoa wait, you mean you can literally train them to pose by camera snapping like the others, by working with them that way?? Because I didn't know that! That is awesome. xD I'm tempted to try that, even if I don't show Petz, just to see it in action! I love it how this game has been here for so many years and there's STILL stuff I don't know...that's cool!! Does it only work with Alleys, or can it work with Oshies or Meezers too?

That's what seems to be happening with me. I did it with my kitty Arre, who is an alley who haaated the camera, who I've had for years and had NEVER seen her pose. But after a little bit with the perfume bottle & treats, she does it pretty readily now without any perfume. It's funny you should mention meezers and oshies because now that you bring it up, I don't think I've been able to. But, I also have wayyy more alleys that meezers, so I think I've only tried to pose two of them so far, and almost no oshies, so I haven't tried it on them at all. So it could be personal pet differences too, since it doesn't work on every single alley (or if it does, I have NOT been patient enough to ride it out!). I'm gonna put all my meezers in my game and try it out on them soon though :3

Thanks so much for this thread! I was wondering if I could get my Meezer to pose inasmuch as I can get anything to pose and behold, an answer.

paige@rattlesnakeDecided to test that with one of my favorite Alleys, Bombshell... That's pretty cool! Dunno if he's just not 'fully trained' or if this is normal, but I notice he only poses at the camera snap about one other time after the perfume spray + reward, and the bottle usually has to stay in the room. o.O It doesn't seem like it becomes part of his normal routine of reactions to camera snaps though. Is that the same for you, or have I just not trained him entirely? Anyway I'm pretty impressed, haha!

Hmm I'm not sure. Arre doesn't need to have the perfume in the room with her, and neither do the other alleys. So maybe it's a personal quirk of Bombshell's or maybe he's not fully trained. Even Arre won't do it every time I want to take her picture, she's still more resistant to it than, say, a Russian Blue, but if I keep double clicking near her (like to do the whistle or the click), she'll stop hissing and pose eventually. How many times have you repeated the perfume + reward and then tried to get him to pose without them?
They look like pretty good poses btw!

When I was writing the Catz Guide, I had to adopt an original sick/flea-covered alley cat out of the Adoption Center, because I needed examples of a genuine posing alley's eyelids for the guide (the love potion gives them a worried look, so I couldn't use that). It took a while for that alley to do his first pose, but after that he started doing it more, and now he's quite willing to pose on his own. I never rewarded him, and never used the potion. I don't know if rewarding really accelerates that process, but it's always worked without for me. I think any cat will become more willing to pose after they've started doing it, even though some breedz take longer than others.

Sorry to continue to completely derail this thread, but... Ratqueen, you said this: But you never really said HOW you got the Alley to pose. If you didn't use the spray, how? Was it just by bringing them out the Petz door? And while I know what you mean about the spray giving them the worried eyes (Bombshell did that too) the trick Paige was showing me meant that he'd pose on his own without the spray eventually...and if you check the pictures I showed of him, it looks like he just went wide-eyed, not worried. So her trick (assuming people have the patience to stick with it) may actually work, and not give worried eyelids. Anyway I'm just saying that because you mentioned you didn't use the spray for that reason, and with Paige's example, it wouldn't have got that effect at all. paige@rattlesnake Okay, so knowing that the trainable Catz CAN actually get to that point tells me that Bombshell probably just isn't fully trained. I don't know how much I worked with him, but it was only a little, just to see, so that probably is what it is. I kinda wanna keep that going now to see it through. xD I figured it'd take them a while to actually pose between all the other Alley things they do, but Bombshell refused to do it after one time, and if I put away the perfume bottle, he was done period. xDD And thanks! I was actually kinda surprised, because Bombshell has thin legs, but they do look pretty good. Might be some of the best poses I've got. xDD
