Schooling Dogz Series for RKC [#1]
What is a Schooling Show?
Each entrant will receive a constructive criticism along with a "scribed" image of their petz pose.
Basically, you'll get to know exactly what this particular judge is considering when placing entrants, what was right about the pose, and what could be improved upon for the future!
Please note that all scribed poses and critiques will not be privately messaged to entrants afterwards; they will be on display for the whole forum to view and learn from as well! If you do not want those results displayed, please do not enter!
Rules:
Maximum one entry per person.
Standard, right-facing Dali or Dane poses only.
Standard points system still applies!
Please follow the breed guidelines stated (see below).
No photo manipulation allowed. Perfect-quality PNG, GIF, or JPG only.
Show closes with a minimum of five entries total. Feel free to still submit entries even when we have five!
However, no entries will be accepted after the show is marked closed.
Breedz Allowed:
Original breedz only!
Hexies with heavy modifications will be allowed at judge's discretion.
If you would like to ask in advance about a specific dog you have, feel free to PM me!

Phew! Here we go! ^^ Remember, you can learn lots by reading all the critiques - not just your own!Mika's Walking on a Dream -First Impression: Good Overall PresentationWhat's Right:What I see with Emory's pose is a great overall picture. The alignment is spot on for the leg type, and the timing of the pose is well executed - caught when the chest is most puffed and the tail is most curled into the body. What to Improve: You would most certainly place with a pose like this in just about any show - depending on your competition. However, when I look for the perfect Dane pose, I'm always looking for the "perfect profile", where the dog is neither facing towards or away from the camera by any small degree. Emory is facing a small degree away from the camera in this pose. Reflet's Heart of Gold -First Impression: AlignmentWhat's Right: This is a fairly well-timed Dali pose - and a Dali pose is never a bad choice for a dali of course! Felix's tail is nicely tucked and his chest is proudly puffed. He also has a nice flat nose. What to Improve: Alignment can immediately break you for the runnings in a standard show - it's always what I look at first. Getting perfect alignment is tough and tedious, but even a pixel can mean the difference between placing or not. Another area to improve upon is the timing of the face. For a dali-face, the standard I like to aim for is a flat-topped nose with a pixel of space between the ballz, eyes level with each other, and the nose centered right below them. Deep Shadow's My Way Or The High Way -First Impression: Image QualityWhat's Right: Nice timing of the breathing - Willow's tail is nicely curled over her back and her chest is well-postured. What to Improve: Right off the bat, in a standard show, this pose would be disqualified because of the image quality. I like to save mine as PNGs, since they were designed for web use and don't get compressed by most image hosts. As for the pose itself, improved alignment and better timing of the face (see the above critique for detailed explanation) would make for a pose in the runnings. R3D's Sweet Vanilla Milk -First Impression: Head PostureWhat's Right: This pose is well-presented in regards to the timing of the tail and chest posture. As well, presenting any dog in a Dane pose is a risk I like to see people taking! What to Improve: For small issues, Leche is presented slightly out of alignment, and he/she is looking slightly towards the camera regarding the profile of the head. However, the major issue here is the height at which this dog is holding the head. In the Dane pose, I like to see the head held high and proud. A low head, unfortunately, will almost always scratch an otherwise perfect Dane pose. MSK's Peanut Butter -First Impression: The Perfect ProfileWhat's Right: Peanut's head is an example of what I call the "perfect profile" in Dane poses. His head is not any degree facing toward or away from the camera, but instead is a perfect sideways profile. The overall timing of the pose is always very well presented. What to Improve: To make the difference between a 1st and a BIS in a standard show, it can come down to mere pixels. Peanut is only one little pixel out of alignment! PDH's 24 Caret Gold -First Impression: Living Dangerously with P5 BreedsWhat's Right: Tigger looks like a P5 Golden Retriever (or a mix). Any of the new breeds from P5 can be a little squirrely to pose, but you've done a great job presenting Tigger. His alignment is spot on and the timing is lovely. What to Improve: I'd like to see him face just one degree away from the camera to fall into that perfect profile. Overall though, it's not a big deal! LF's Queen of Everything -First Impression: AlignmentWhat's Right: The timing is perfect. Tail and chest posture are ideal, and given that this was a more well-aligned pose, Madonna would match up to the standards I like to see with a dali's head. (See Reflet's Heart of Gold for those standards. What to Improve: Madonna is aligned slightly away from the camera, which unfortunately throws off the rest of the pose. With fuzzy dogs, what's lucky is that you can usually get away with being a pixel or two off alignment, however, they're can be more tricky to align in the first place. It's hard to see under all that fuzz! Results - BIS: MSK's Peanut Butter1st: Mika's Walking on a Dream 2nd: PDH's 24 Caret Gold3rd: LF's Queen of EverythingHM: Reflet's Heart of Gold
