So my signature has been foreshadowing this story for a while now, haha. It is a bit different than I originally planned, but I'm happy with it.
Prologue:
My parents were already elders when it happened. My father was eleven and my mother nine years old. They had not been able to conceive a child and felt shame from the village. But then, one day, Aime himself delivered me to them. There was no secret journey into the village to plant me when no one was looking. No, he appeared at my parents’ doorstep and handed them the seed that would flower into me.
With that seed, Aime brought dark words. He warned of a terrible time to come. He did not say much, but he mentioned and something dreadful was beginning to spark amidst the gods and goddesses.
I was the last born in the village. As I aged things changed. Instead of a world of peace and order, I knew one of chaos and woe.
The gods were ill. They lost control of their reigns and thus the world was thrown in disarray. And then, when I was nearing age three, the gods and goddesses began to fade into nothingness, and as they did so, so did the things over which they ruled.
The weather calmed but remained unpredictable. Time stopped, though day and night still passed. No one was born, no one aged, and no one died.
This went on for a long time. We all avoided the Garden of the Gods, but one day, I decided something needed to be done. I entered the sacred garden and wandered around. There was the smell of death in the air. There were signs of an obvious struggle. Everything was wilted and ruined. And then, in the spot I assume Aime to have guarded, there were ten seeds.
Excited, I grabbed the seeds and ran out of the garden as fast as I could. I raced to the others and showed them what I had found. No one had seen a seed in years!
But the others were not so thrilled. They did not believe the seeds would grow. The gods and goddesses had controlled everything and made a perfect balance so as to maintain life. How could that happen when there were no higher beings left? Nothing could grow, the plants in the village were barely alive anymore.
But I planted them. I made sure to bring them water from the river and see to it they got shade and sunlight. I saw to it they weren’t too hot or cold.
And then one day, there were sprouts.
The sprouts grew into stems.
Stems became blooms.
And then they were born.
The dogs in the story can be found on this page, though most of them have yet to be mentioned. They'll come in time.
