For games like Mario Kart or Super Mario Bros, please specify which version. I LOVE Super Mario Sunshine, I have 40+ shines (41 maybe?) but I really don't want to complete certain levels, like the one where you have to clean the moray eel's teeth . I'm not sure how close I am to beating it... I'm curious to know which is your favorite? There are so many games AND systems that go with them to pick from! I love Mario Party 5 (and the mini game "Fish Upon a Star" and the DK one with collecting the colored monkeys) as well, so both of mine are from Gamecube. How about you?

LOL, well I totally forgot about Super Princess Peach. I love that one too; pity Daisy didn't get her own game too.
Honorary mention goes to Mario Strikers: Charged. My younger brother and I loved to play rock music (usually Skillet or Red) while playing it.

I haven't played the Galaxy games yet but my favourite is probably Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels. I played the original SMB in the arcade a heck of a lot as a kid and then later in the All Stars cart on the SNES. The Lost Levels took everything that you knew about that game and then messed with you. Want to use a warp pipe? Oops sorry back to the beginning of the game you go. I've since seen some really tricky hacks of the original game but this was the first time that I saw a version of SMB that was just slightly evil.
Super Mario World is probably my second fav because of the pure epicness of the game at the time, plus Yoshi! It's hard to pick though. I have a lot of fondness for Super Mario Land 2 on the Game Boy.
Super Mario Sunshine unfortunately was my least favourite. I didn't enjoy the FLUD mechanic and just lost interest in it.
I love Mario Kart of course. I've played and finished all of them up to but not including the Wii versions and the latest 3DS version. Those are on the wish list. My favourite of those is probably Double Dash.
Ooo, thought of another one. Mario Tennis, the 64 version in particular. I played that game to death. I bought it from a work colleague who had only completed the first cup with Mario. Boy did he miss out. It's so much fun trying out the different characters as they all have different play styles.

I don't think I've played Mario tennis Catbaloo? Honest I probably have but can't remember. I loved playing hockey and volleyball though. I think I like Super Mario Sunshine the most for a few reasons. One is nostalgia. I've been playing it for a long time, just like Petz, and used to play it at my grandmas. I also loved to play Gamecube there. Another reason is I love an interactive open world; I would just pick certain levels, like the amusement park ones and run around on them. I didn't always have to solve a puzzle (platformer). Reason 3: Yoshi. Lastly, I love messing with NPC's. I'd jump on their heads and spray them with FLUDD and generally ruin their day, or life depending on how you look at it. There were also lots of secrets to find and lots of shines to find and collect. Long post, but these are the reasons I recommend it. Not trying to say it's the best or anything, I just thought I'd explain it's appeal, at least to me, for the people who have never tried it, or who have played. But for the ones Catbaloo picked again, the old ones were great with Yoshi! I loved unlocking him and was excited to get the different colors of him! Whichever game version that was...

I am angry at myself for not posting here sooner >:C
I've played a lot of the Mario platforming games, and my top 5 in no particular order are:
1. Super Mario Bros. 3- I've played this game ever since I was old enough to hold a controller. I love the worlds and level setups, plus it has TANOOKI MARIO! :3
2. Super Mario World- Very similar to SMB3 in a lot of ways, but it introduced Yoshi and he is one of my favorite characters in the series.
3. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island- I love the cutesy look of this one, and its different game mechanics (Mario is a baby, and you control Yoshi instead for most of the game).
4. Super Mario 64- This just might be nostalgia on my part, as many people who play Mario series games seem to dislike this one because it is extremely dated and the camera control is terrible. But I remember watching a friend play it as a little kid, and being excited that I could finally play it at home when I got an N64 for Christmas. One of the easiest main series games I've played in my opinion, and I like to start a new play through every time I turn the game on just to see how long it takes to defeat Bowser all 3 times.
5. Super Mario Galaxy- Beautiful game. I can see why people might prefer Super Mario Galaxy 2, as it's intended to be more of a challenge and has Yoshi in it, but I strongly prefer this game's overall atmosphere.
As for the other games, Super Mario Sunshine wasn't really my favorite, but it's still a good and enjoyable game, just different. I'm not that crazy over the first Super Mario Bros. game, but I can understand why people like it, especially since it's so influential. Super Mario Bros. 2 is pretty good, and I like being able to pick between four different characters. Never been interested in the New Super Mario Bros. games for some reason...
As far as other Mario games go, the only non-main series ones I play are the Mario Kart games. I own all except the newest one (don't own a Wii U :c). I own a couple of Mario Party games, but I don't play them much at all. They're only really fun when you're playing with other people, and when I do play games with other people I usually opt to play Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros. instead.
Also, I have never played Lost Levels and I neeeed to. The game sounds pretty brutal from what I've heard of it.
(Sorry if this was too long of a post, lol)

(Sorry if this was too long of a post, lol) It's not too long of a post I have never heard of Lost Levels...I will have to look into it. I also like to play Mario Kart with people and want to play Mario Kart 7 with a friend, but she doesn't have the game so she can't picker her cart, and I want to play Mario Kart 8 but of course I would have to buy the Wii U, which I don't have .

I have never heard of Lost Levels...I will have to look into it. From what I know, Lost Levels was actually Super Mario Bros. 2 in Japan. The Super Mario Bros. 2 that was released in America (and possibly other countries, but I'm not completely sure) is actually a revision of another game called Doki Doki Panic that wasn't a Mario game, but featured some elements of Mario games (like the POW Block and Power Star). The version of SMB2 that was released in Japan was not released internationally because it was considered too difficult of a game and it was believed foreign audiences would find the game frustrating or unappealing. While trying to develop a suitable replacement for the foreign market, they were asked to create a game using certain characters (from a TV show I think?). They used these characters and released the game in Japan as Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic. They then replaced the characters in Doki Doki Panic, tweaked some other aspects of the game a bit, and released it internationally as Super Mario Bros. 2. The "Mario version" of this game did eventually receive a Japanese release under the name Super Mario Bros. USA. Kind of random fun fact, lol. Not sure how much of it you already knew, and I like talking about classic video game trivia like this. :3 Outside of Japan, the original SMB2 is known as the Lost Levels. It was first made available in Super Mario Bros. All-Stars for the SNES (which was released as a compilation of updated classic Mario NES games) and has since been released on Virtual Console for both the Wii and 3DS, so you should be able to buy it assuming you have at least one of them.
