Forgive me if someone else has posted something similar, I'm just curious. I'm trying to rebuild my crew and start some breeding projects after a long hiatus from the PC, and maybe it's just me, but I don't remember people really mentioning inbreeding much when I was last involved. Either way, it'll be nice to know for setting up adoptions/etc. in the future.

Honestly I think it's neat when there are nice non inbred petz for adoption but it just takes so much longer to breed without inbreeding and it's so much harder to get the traits you want. I do like purebred non inbred pets but other than that I'm good with inbreeding. With purebred pets I'm fine with trading 200 generations for no inbreeding but not so much with mixies.

Just to clarify; while I don't give a hoot if my petz are inbred - I love them all the same - non inbred petz are something special too. They're a lot harder to come by, thus, it's exciting to find them I do seem to recall that no one mentioned it much several years ago.

^^ What Alena said.
Non-inbred petz are more of a novelty, I suppose. They're cool and rare to find, but aren't really any better or worse than inbred if the pet itself is what you want.
It is fun/interesting/stressful to breed non-inbred lines. It's a challenge.
Non-inbred mixed breeds seem kinda pointless to me, though.

I don't breed inbred petz. Neither do I have many. Maybe five or less. I enjoy the hard work to create something unique and the hunt for mutations through pure lines. They're cleaner, to me. Not saying inbred are bad, I just prefer not to indulge in it. So this makes finding adoptions for me a little more difficult. And near impossible. So. Anything I have is completely inbred free. But I think I'm the only one that does this. <_<

Alena - nice to know I'm not the only one who's noticed the change! I don't remember that ever really being a factor way back when. I'm definitely interested in how breeding projects go with and without it - I'm sure there's a different workload, but I'll bet it affects genetic diversity, too. Anyway, thanks for weighing in!

I agree. I'm not sure why there's the growing trend, but I gather it's the use of programs like LNZ Pro, that show just how many ancestors are duplicates? And about the workloads; I'm assuming spam breeding siblings with mutations you want would be easier than waiting for similar mutations from different lines, especially from low gen ones (let's face it, pure-breeding for specific mutations is one of the most frustrating and time consuming, yet rewarding things about the game, hehe). When I first got into pets, people seemed to breed everything with anything left, right and center, though people seem to have become more conscious of who they're breeding these days. Either way, I just see non-inbred petz as another specific item people seek out, much like Tamsins or minis, and ultimately, I find it fun to work on breeding projects like that

With purebreds, I much prefer inbred free petz over inbred ones. It won't stop me adopting an inbred one I really like though, but I will generally seek out inbred free ones. For mixies, I don't care =b
I like the challenge with breeding non-inbred petz. I also love looking back through their generations to see who the owners were, and when you get high generations of multiple ancestors kept in a file, they eventually end up trimmed. Which is sad in it's own right. I love seeing all the lines each petz came from.

The inbred status of a pet will not keep me from applying/adopting if I really like it. I always assume all petz are inbred unless otherwise noted anyway.
Whenever I breed petz from my own lines I do not inbreed. I will breed inbred petz I adopt from others though, but not to their own relatives if I can help it.

I've accidentely inbred some petz, so I just went with it. Also they are just virtual and at least we aren't talking about real pets here. But for some reason doing it makes me guilty but, overall, people should do whatever they please. I wouldn't mind getting an inbred or non-inbred pet since you can love them all the same. So I put yes, but I make exceptions.

Now that's not to say I'd totally SHUN a gorgeous pet with some inbred lineage, particularly if I was given it as a gift or something. But my own lines are always pure. I find the challenges of breeding are reduced so drastically when you start crossing lines that it takes the sparkle right out of P.F. Magic :< Before the introduction of LNZ Pro (as far as I'm aware), this was never even a thing. I may be just a masochist but now that I can monitor every last inscrutable detail of my petz's files, I see no reason not to comply! If any of you guys are interested in trading some high-gen (8++) inbred-free mixed kits, keep your eyes peeled for a thread from me in the future or shoot me a PM.

When adopting petz I really don't mind however I don't inbreed. I like to keep my lines inbred free and even if I have mixies that are inbred I won't breed them with a relative. I just prefer not to, I guess. But like I said, I really don't care if my petz are inbred or not.

For purebreds, I prefer non-inbred. I guess because, from scratch, purebreds are easier to breed than mixies. You don't have to worry about breeding in multiple traits from multiple breeds while retaining the desired body shape and size. All you have to worry about is eye color, coat color, and eyelids, so not inbreeding provides that extra challenge. Besides, most people seem to prefer non-inbred purebreds... They seem more "valuable." For mixies, I couldn't care less if they're inbred. Of course, non-inbred mixies are always an added plus.

To be terribly honest, I am horrible for inbreeding I wish I would really be more careful and take more time but the inbred results are so pretty that I often overlook it :3 In the future id really love to breed only from inbred free lines and might try to do so from this point on, but ill always have my cutie inbred mixies that everyone loves <3 I think the petz game can REALLY be studied and looked into with Breeding properly, genetics and so forth I think its all incredibly interesting and Id really love to be more of a part of the pure lines as well <3

I'm not pro inbreeding and I wouldn't ever intentionally do it myself I'd say at least 90% of the 2,000+ pet files on my computer and non inbred and for the most part the others are 3% or less inbred and simply came about from what was obviously a mistaken pairing. I for one enjoy the thrill and challenge behind non-inbred breeding. Like Wolven said the Genetics are fun to mess with especially when dabbling in the Mixing department. I love me some non-inbred 8th gen+ mixies.
To be fair though my very favorite cat and dog are both highly inbred ones I adopted from some awesome people here on the forums and I love them to bits. Granted they are both fixed because I wouldn't ever breed then since they are inbred but that doesn't make me enjoy them any less.
