So, over the years, I know I've told this story to the PC again and again. But considering a piece of this 'story' has moved on a little further, and some of you may NOT know the story...here it is again, with its' new bits near the end.
---
Back when I was a kid, I spent more time on P5 than anywhere else. I have tons of old petz, but none of my firsts, due to constant corruption stealing them away. Some of my oldest, and most dear, happen to be these two. Gigi the Chihuahua, adopted from the AC on November 28th 2003.
And Tiki, the Japanese Bobtail, adopted from the AC on April 21st 2004.
For some reason, these petz became severe favorites, despite being random, AC petz I just picked out. (I was probably trying to rebuild after another mass corruption. ) Besides being bursting with personality all on their own, I discovered that they were friends.
But not just any friends. I've been playing petz for years and I have never, EVER seen two petz as close friends as these two. Ever.
Any petz friends I've seen, for example, will at least tackle each other every now and then. (Drives me crazy) But these two NEVER do that. The only interactions they ever have is dancing and playing around each other. They are at a level of friendship few in their entire lives ever experience.
Anyway. They became popular in my household cuz I was always talking about them, and I have the best memories of playing with them.
Now, at a time...Molly came into the picture.
Images have been re-created.
This was basically what things looked like when Molly, another AC pet, came along. Tiki fell in love for the first time, and Molly became just as important in that moment. Together, on August 8th 2004, they had two boys kittens called Boots and Socks. And they also became important. After all, this was Tiki's family now!
Then, it happened again. The same thing that had haunted me all throughout my childhood...the one thing I didn't know how to stop back then.
Corruption.
At that point, Molly was nursery-ridden with their third kitten, Lily. I barely remember what Lily looked like. I know she looked almost exactly like Tiki, and she never even got to open her eyes.
Molly was corrupted, and Lily went with her.
As did Socks.
Thankfully, Tiki, Gigi and Boots were spared, but half of their family was now gone forever. I still have their files, I've saved them all these years, but opening them in a hex editor shows they are entirely blank. They don't have ANY data in them, and many people have tried to help me restore them (before we knew they were blank) but there is nothing to be done.
They're gone.
We'll never forget the ones we lost. We love them dearly, and miss them.
But you know...something interesting happened.
On October 31st 2008 I, for some random reason (again), adopted two adoption center petz. Pappy the Papillion (who I apparently stuck in a folder and never aged up, oops. We're naturally raising him now, poor little guy!) and...Mammy, the Egyptian Mau, the same breed as Molly.
Mammy, despite her dumb joke of a name, has turned out to be something very special.
Tiki never really seemed to entirely bond with another female cat after Molly. I mean, he's fallen in love plenty of times, but it never seemed quite as...special, as what he had with Molly.
But out of curiosity, I introduced him to Mammy who is EXACTLY like Molly in looks. They hit it off so strongly, I could swear Molly's spirit was in that body.
And so, Mammy and Tiki are now a happy couple, and have been for a long time. But we weren't really ready for kittens from them.
Until tonight. I brought them out together, and they were SO happy to see each other again, I decided to let them be, and they quickly had kittens.
Their family, except for Gigi who was napping, now looks like this:
Firstly, there's some pictures of Boots. His brother Socks looked very alike, just with a different face. Mammy is already giving him motherly looks! And as for their kittens...my gosh, would you LOOK at them??
Lillie looks almost exactly like Tiki. Just like the original Lily did!! It's just like she came back!
And Wellington, who I let my sister name...he actually looks a lot like Socks did!! Even the genders are right!
How strange is this? We happen upon a second AC Egyptian Mau who bonds with Tiki the same way Molly did...and the ONLY two kittens they have look EXACTLY like those we lost, genders and all!
I never could have imagined it would turn out this way, and I couldn't be happier! It's like I got Tiki's whole family back. I only hope Boots likes Wellington, like he did Socks, but only time will tell when Wells is older.
Just...my gosh. Such a magical, nostalgic night for me!
And, here's bonus pictures of Lillie:
Because I was so over the moon about her. xD Since the original Lily never opened her eyes, I'd never been able to really play with her! So now I can!
Just...gaaah. I'm so happy. xD

If you like, you can share stories of petz you've lost to corruption here too. It's sad to talk about and read, but it's always nice to remember the petz that left too.
