I really want to import houses and other objects, I double clicked on the furniture files that I downloaded but they wont open because I have windows 8 and they say I need to choose an app from the app store and I don't know which one to use. I did this other method of putting the sims houses into the download file on the sims3 resource thing and they still wont show up. Does anyone know how I can import the houses??

It depends on where you downloaded them from and what kind of files they are. I should be able to help, but I need to know that information first.

There is a technical help area at the main Sims3 site where you might be able to get more help. www.thesims3.com/

if your downloaded files are .zip or .rar, or otherwise archived, extract them first! TS3 cc tends to come in 2 types, .Sims3pack and .package make sure your game's closed first, including from the system tray (bottom right hand corner! Right click on TS3 icon and select exit)
for .package files: use explorer to navigate to C:\Users\your username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 then either double click on the folder called 'Mods', or if there isn't one, create one by right clicking on any blank part of the folder and then selecting new -> folder then in that folder (in explorer, the address should be C:\Users\your username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods) either double click on the folder called 'Packages', or again, if there isn't one, create a new one copy & paste all of your .package files into that folder
for .Sims3pack files: if you want to install just one .Sims3pack, double click on it and follow the instructions that appear! If you want to install several at once, use explorer to navigate to C:\Users\your username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads, place the files in there open your game as you would normally, and when the launch client appears, press the 'Downloads' button on the right any of the pictures of the content that hasn't been installed yet will be grayed out. Tick the boxes on the left of the images, and then select install at the bottom of the launcher's window
