Hi guys! I'm here to tell you a little bit about one of my favorite games. You all like the Petz games, so you like caring, breeding, or owning a virtual pet. What if I were to tell you that this game has nearly the same concepts as the Petz games?
Well, Ovipets does!
In Ovipets, you can adopt, feed, and breed animals that are similar to creatures in real life. I'll get more into detail on each of these topics later on, so keep reading! This should teach you how to get started in playing the game, and most of the info you'll need to know.
Signing Up
To sign up, copy and paste the link below into your web browser to have me refer you (or just go to the main site, ovipets.com , to sign up without me refering you, but that includes less fun):
ovipets.com/#!/?ref=84712
One there, sign up with your Facebook account. Ovipets is a Facebook app, so you can also play while on Facebook.
Getting Pets
To get your first pet, click on the Paw symbol in the top-right corner of your screen. This takes you to the Adoption Center, where you can get a free pet every 10 minutes. There are many different kinds of pets to adopt, so find one with a species and coloring that you like! Click on the pet, and hit the Adopt button that is next to the pet's image. If the pet doesn't have a name, it will go into your Nursery (the egg symbol at the top of your screen if you are currently looking at your user) until it is named. To name a pet, click on the Name button next to it's image. Type in your name, and hit Okay. Make sure the name is exactly how you want it to be, as it costs money to change it. Some people add prefixes before their pet's name to say that it is theirs. I do RK (Name Here) because my username is rebekit98.
Enclosures
You can put your pets into groups to organize them. These groups are called enclosures. Click on the Home button at the top of your screen. If the button is not there, click on your picture. It should pop up. You should have one enclosure to start with. To add more, find the Edit button near your enclosure. This takes you to a page where you can add, remove, and edit enclosures. To add pets into an enclosure, simply drag them onto the enclosure's name. To move pets, click and drag them around in their enclosures to change their orders.
Breeding
Two pets can breed if they are not related, are of opposite genders, and are the same species. Click on one of the pets you want to breed, and click Breeding. Find the enclosure the other pet is in, and click on the other pet. Hit Okay, and your new egg arrives in your nursery. To hatch an egg, turn it over and over until it reaches 100% Hatched. Then click Hatch. Your new pet is still in your nursery until it is named, and then it goes into your first group. You can later sort it into a new group.
Feeding
Your pets get hungry, and will die if they are not fed regularly. Don't worry, though, as they don't need fed daily! They have a feeding meter that slowly goes down, and when 25% or lower, a red icon will appear by your pet when looking at it in a group. To feed your pet, just click the Feed button next to your pet's image.
Pures
A pure pet is one that has one of the main color codes (these may be hard to see, so highlight them with your cursor. I wanted them to look like the real colors in-game):
Pure White: #FFFFFF
Pure Black: #000000
Pure Red: #FF0000
Pure Green: #00FF00
Pure Blue: #0000FF
Pure Yellow: #FFFF00
Pure Magenta: #FF00FF
Pure Cyan: #00FFFF
Pure pets have a little colored circle next to their image. These pets are worth more because they are rarer.
Research
You can research a species and add mutations to your eggs by researching it. To research, click on the Lab button at the top of your screen (shaped like DNA). Select a species, and research it. It does cost credits, though.
Splicing
One of your goals on Ovipets can be to collect a pet with every mutation! But to do this, you'll need to either breed them or splice them! To add a mutation to an egg, click on it and hit Lab. Select the mutation you'd like. You must research the species before adding any mutations, and this costs credits.
Credits
Credits are the in-game currency. Many things cost credits, and credits can be gotten in two ways:
Turning your friend's eggs
Buying them
When you turn an egg that isn't yours, you have a slight chance of getting a credit. Only 1 in 18 eggs that you turn has a credit, so this isn't a very effective way to get them. But if you don't want to spend money, then this is how you'll have to get them.
You can buy credits buy gong to your Trade tab (looks like two curvey arrows). Scroll down, and click Buy Credits. You have to pay for them with real money, and if you buy some, you become a paid member. Even if you never buy credits again or run out of credits, you're still a payed member.
There is a bunch of stuff that I didn't cover here because of how detailed it gets, such as trading/selling pets, groups (not the enclosure kind), and tags! So explore a little, look at the Tutorial and FAQ, and have fun! If you did read all of this, it really is worth playing! Message me, rebekit98 , and tell me that I referred you! I'll even give you a starter pure if you'd like, since those are hard to find. Thanks for reading, and have fun on Ovipets!
