I don't know what operating system you use, but I have Windows Vista and all I have to do is save the file to my desktop, double click it and a popup window comes up, just click "Run". Another popup window will come up after that, click okay. Then another popup window comes up where you just extract the files into your resource/toyz folder ;D

I'm glad you made this thread, because I've been having issues with this too. >_<
Janelle, some of the files allow me to choose where to extract them, but a couple just go ahead and say they've unzipped successfully when in reality they are nowhere to be found. =/ Then when I try and delete the .exe file Vista says that it "might not have installed correctly." I always run as Administrator now.

Okay, first of all..How exactly do you guys go about it when you download them? I've been using apkc's files for years and never had a problem (and use Vista)
My steps:
Click to download file Select Run Select Browse and choose where I want the file to go Then hit Unzip
Everything always ends up in the folder that I put it in when I do that.

Selena, that's the thing. Some of the files allow me to select browse and choose where the file goes. Others have different icons on my desktop and simply tell me they've "totally unzipped, dude! Good to go! Righteousss" without ever giving me the option to Browse and choose its location. In this case, the Auto-Rolling Rubber Ball4 file allows me to choose where it's unzipped, but when I try to run "skateb" (which is the skateboard toy, downloaded from the same page...) is shows me this: ...And then after that screen disappears (it goes away within maybe two seconds) after a while another windows pops up saying it installed correctly. Then, a little while after that, it goes "Oops, never mind... maybe this file didn't install correctly" when I try to recycle it. T_T

But do you select save or run when prompted to? It looks like you save them to your desktop and then unpack them.

Grah, I wish I'd seen this before I went to work! Unfortunately the computer here is silly and is admin locked, so I can't test it out at the moment but I will take a look when I get home around 10. In the meantime, it looks like either a different program was used to set the problem files up for download, or something went wrong in the compression process. Try downloading WinRar and see if it will allow you to open the problem files using WinRar. If it does, you should be able to extract the toy files. If not, it will have to wait for more fiddling. and I'm working on a brynn symbol, because it's a 5 hour shift and i'm going to be bored

Weall I'll be dipped. It looks like to me that the owner just started using a new format, and this one automatically detects where Petz is and installs the toy to the proper location. Have you checked your toy folder to see if it shows up there? Because I just tried using it, and it put the Skateboard into the game and I could see it and use it. If you have Windows 7 or Vista, it might be putting the file in the wrong place. If you use my guide to locate the hidden place, it might have either a: put the file in there and decided to reference the old location, or b: the reverse. If all else fails, I can send the file.

I think that's only for some files and not others..I just went and looked myself, it must be a new thing. When I went to download a breed or a litter, it came up with the normal self-extractor, but when I went to download the skateboard, it did something different.
I'm not sure why it's the skateboard or a few other things, everything for me is working otherwise normal.

The skateboard is in the format of the official PF Magic download. The auto rubber ball 4 is in the format the APKC used. That is the difference. My Windows 7 laptop doesn't seen to recognize PF Magic's type of toy exe either.
Just checked my Vista desktop. The official download exe works on the Vista machine but not on the Windows 7 laptop.

I use a Vista laptop and it's not working here. xD
I know about Vista's hiding places for Petz, but it's not there (or in the normal Programs place). I never installed Vista to Documents, though, since I installed it before discovering the PC and even so, I haven't had any issues with it except finding the files at first.
If you could send it to me, that would be great, although I'll still try and see if I can get this working. >_< WinRAR didn't seem to extract the .toy file either; just took apart the Setup. =P
