I know there's a lot of different people from all different places on here, and I thought it'd be interesting to see what types of accents there are. Personally, I find accents really interesting. :3 For American and British (and I'm sure others), I know that there a different types of American/British accents, so please state which type you have. Same with 'other'. :3 I've got a typical American accent from California. So...I am somewhat embarrassed to say that I've got the 'Valley' accent (2nd accent), like in this video ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOltf7rS-mM ), but maybe not quite that bad? Also, I know I probably left out a ton of accents, but I just put down the main ones that came to mind. That's why there's an 'other' answer. ;D What about you?

British = Scottish, English, Welsh & Northern Ireland btw. ROI (republic of Ireland) is in the british isles, but I don't think it is specifically 'british' as they are independant from the United Kingdom. Anyway, I have a British Accent cos i'm from luhnduhn! :3

I'm sure for the most part I have a typical midwestern accent from living in that area.
However, if I'm around people with other accents for too long or listen to movies with others..they make their way into my own vocabulary and I have a hard time saying the words without their accent.

*shifty eyes* I'm sure I have an American accent, but I have absolutely no idea what it sounds like. :P American-y. I do live in West Virginia, but I'm mostly immune [thank god] to developing a 'redneck' accident. Ew. D:I grew up in Ohio (I left when I was in 6th grade), so I think that's more or less where/what my voice and accent has developed around. I just took an online quiz I found through Google, and this is what it said: What American accent do you have?Your Result: The Midland"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio. Result Breakdown:88% The Midland 72% The West 69% The Inland North 55% Boston 51% North Central 50% The Northeast 44% Philadelphia 42% The South Huuuuh. Interesting.

Huh..that's interesting, I took the quiz you posted and here's my results: What American accent do you have?Your Result: The Inland NorthYou may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop." Result Breakdown:93% The Inland North 88% The Northeast 87% Philadelphia 70% The Midland 62% The South 31% Boston 25% The West 8% North Central

Anyway, I have a British Accent cos i'm from luhnduhn! :3 Oops, forgot all about that. For me, when I think of 'British', I think of an accent from England. Sooo...in the quiz, the 'British' answer means English from England. xDD Anyway, I took that quiz earlier too, and here's my results: What American accent do you have?Your Result: The WestYour accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta. I come from Northern England... and erm... >>;; I have a very strong South Yorkshire accent. xDD
The phrase "I'm going to the shop" is the famous example of my accent. We don't say that, we just say "going t'shop." No I'm, no to the, just t'shop. It's a hard T and southern people laugh themselves silly trying to replicate it. xDDD
We say lots of other fun stuff, too.

When I took the quiz, it says I would have a West accent. Whatever that is, haha.
In real life, I have a Canadian accent. I didn't really know we had a different accent, but it's noticeable if you listen to the American news and then Canadian. I suppose that goes under "Other" because it's not an American accent.
My English teacher had to convince us [being the class] that we had an accent, haha.

I have a southern accent. I bet it;s because I live at the bottom of the map of the US, good ole Mississippi. Unlike most people from Mississippi my accent is so terrible you don't know what I'm talking about, however I do know some people that do have deep accents. I do have the habit of saying y'all and that's probably the thickest my accent gets lol.
My boyfriend is from Vietnam and he has an accent which I find so much fun. Some words he says sound the same but I am so used to hearing it everyday that I am used to it. My mom and sisters, however have no idea what he's talking about. Some of his habits and Vietnamese words have rubbed off on me, so my mom doesn't know what I'm talking about either. In the end we all just shut up and eat dinner lol.

What American accent do you have? Your Result: PhiladelphiaYour accent is as Philadelphian as a cheesesteak! If you're not from Philadelphia, then you're from someplace near there like south Jersey, Baltimore, or Wilmington. if you've ever journeyed to some far off place where people don't know that Philly has an accent, someone may have thought you talked a little weird even though they didn't have a clue what accent it was they heard. Result Breakdown: 100% Philadelphia 90% The Midland 78% The Inland North 77% The South 76% The Northeast 31% Boston 25% The West 8% North Central This is 100% true, I'm about 15 minutes away from philly. some examples of a new jersey/philly accent www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQJv04Y1rhcwww.youtube.com/watch?v=Oj8G8NYm8Dk < he's from the same area as me :3
