So I've kind of been entertaining the idea of buying a domain, not now but in the future at some point. But I was curious about the end of the domain url . I've looked at pricings and some are more expensive than others.
I was curious why this is and if that alters how much space you get? For instance .info is the cheapest on the site I'm on right now, but would it be wrong to purchase that just because it's so cheap?
Aaaand I should probably learn to code my own layouts before buying a domain, right?

The top-level domain TLD (.com, .biz, .ca, etc) does not effect the amount of space you get. When purchasing a domain, you only get a domain - not web space. In order to get webspace, you have to get a web hosting package which sometimes includes free domains, sometimes not. This means you can have any TLD with any amount of space, just depends on how much you want to spend on hosting. So, if you plan on getting your own domain (unless you will redirect from your domain to a free webhost based site) I recommend getting a Web Hosting package.
As for why some are more expensive: because some TLDs are privately owned by a country, organization, or similar. Since the most common ".com" (".info", ."biz", etc) is not specifically "owned", it is amongst the cheapest. Many country/organization/company based TLDs cost more because the holder of that TLD registry choses the pricing. Also, some TLDs which are owned by smaller organizations have a quota that they can't exceed so since registry of domains under that TLD are limited, they cost more.
The TLD typically depicts the purpose of the website it will be the domain of. For example, a Canadian specific website may have ".ca" or a website geared towards non profit charity would have ".org" etc.
For the most part, when you get your own WEB SPACE (along with your domain), you should first have a decent understanding of HTML so you may use and code your own layouts if necessary. Most paid-for web hosts do not offer page builders so everything has to be done in HTML, XTML, PHP, CSS, etc without the visual aid. So yes, you are best to learn coding and such first.

Yeah, I would be looking to purchase a webhost, not just the domain urlthing.
&I know basic HTML and have no issues making simple layouts. I just can't create an image and code it to become a layout.

Well, as long as you know HTML you shouldn't have any issues. When I first got my domain, I knew next to nothing about HTML (I knew how to make a very basic layout, nothing complicated like IFrames and Tables and such). So you should be fine in the front.

All u would really need after u have your domain and webhosting space is just a basic background image and tables ontop of it to keep everything in order until u can make a nicer layout
Where will u be buying the domain from?
I think godaddy.com is one of the better places to buy a domain name from they aslo offer web hosting plans but u don't have to use there web hosting if u don't want to
