Well...not really 3D, but it's the best word I could come up with... I think this is in the right spot. It doesn't belong in creative corner or help desk don't think as it's petz related and discussion based...I'm kind of wanting to get an idea of what people think about it. Hope it's alright >.> --------------------------------------------- I had a neat idea. Imagine with me... You click on a link to a kennel and up pops a picture of a house(not a RL one...a drawn one). On the roof are mounted the words 'Shepherd's Pride Kennel' and in the yard there is a sign that says welcome. On the door you see the word 'Enter' and you click on it. It takes you inside, to another page. A window pops up, saying to scroll over the the dogs and showing an example. You exit out of that to find yourself in entry way where stand two dogs, Airi and Gaurd, my greeters. You scroll over them and conversation bubbles pop up with greetings and directions in them, explaining how the site works. You see a entry way to another room to your right, one to your left, one on the left side in front of you and stairs in front of you to the right. Each has a sign. The one to the right says 'Petz Art Gallery'. The one to the right says. 'Adopton'. In front, to the left says 'Retired' and the sign by the stairs says 'Crew'. In the Petz Art gallery room you will find yourself in, well, a gallery with a ton of art and some picture frames on the wall. They will read 'Awards' 'Of my Petz' 'By Me' 'By Others' 'Misc.' When you click on one it will bring up a slide show like thing where you can click from one picture to the next. Airi and Gaurd will be there to tell you how it works. In the Adoption room you will find an office like room with a desk with the words 'Application' mounted on it. The room will have doors to 3 other rooms, each with a sign on it. (The signs will often be changed according to what adoptions I have, but an example would be 'litters' 'Malamutes' and 'Hexies') When you enter any of the rooms you will see cages, 2 tall, 4 across with puppies in them. You can scroll across each cage to get information about the puppies inside. Again, Airi and Gaurd will be there to tell you how it works. If you went straight, you will find yourself in the kitchen, where lounges all of my Legends, each on their own respective bed. You can scroll over any of them to get information. There will also be a door, leading outside. On the door will be the sign 'Sled Team, Horses and Herding Dogs'. If you chose to go upstairs to 'Crew' you will find yourself in a hallways lined with 6 different bedrooms. Each with a sign on the door. You can enter each room and see what dogs are there, again, scrolling over them to see their info. If you choose to go outside you will find yourself in an open yard with my Husky Sled Team, practicing! As well as Elixir and Studmuffin, lounging around and watching the team. In the distance you will see a small barn. Airi and Gaurd will be there to tell you you can click on it. If you do you will find yourself in a small stable with 4 horses poking their heads out over the door. Each stable will have the horses name engraved into the wood. My 4 herding dogs will be sitting in front of their respective horse partner, just laying or lounging. Oh! And in the front yard there will be two signs. One pointing left saying 'Mutants of Legend' and one pointing right saying 'All about Malamutes', each will lead to my sub-kennel sites. ----------------------------------------------------- Wouldn't this kennel just be...amazing, unique, a dream come true? lol. It's obviously possible. I know exactly how I can make it work (for the most part). I just lack the artistic means to make each of the rooms *glances around to see if I might bribe anyone into helping me...unlimited access to my hexies anyone?* Anyways, what do you think? I think it would be a really, really, really fun site.

I think this would be best suited to Help Desk, as it's ok to have discussions there and you are looking for someone to assist you. Moving!

I can imagine it! Holy crap, that would be amazing. I can envision that perfectly! I can't draw on the computer very well, but if you can somehow get this done, I will like, visit it daily. Especially if it's all animated, haha. That way, if you scroll over a dog, a little speech bubble can pop up ^-^

I wasn't really looking for help so much as wanting to talk about the 'idea' with people and, generally speaking, the general RKC public looks more at Petz Talk than Help Desk, buuuut, if you think it's better suited here, that's fine ^.^
I'm glad someone else can envision it!!! I sooooooo wish I was better with art on the computer. I'm thinking about drawing it out on paper. At least to make the idea more tangible. *grabs pencil and sketch book*

I tried an idea like this, only not for my crew. It was for my Rescue Site forever a day ago - and it wasnt a house, but was set up in the form a shelter with kennels and such. I ended up scrapping it because I lose interest in projects very quickly.
That said, i do think it is a great idea, but it will require a ton of work, and time. Good luck with this though. I hope you have more motivation/dedication than i do with massive projects like this haha.

Dedication is something I do have It may take me a years, but if I have a goal I can usually get there *glances at 11 Legend* yea.... >.> I just realized this will involve having 22 pages o.o But, on the bright side, 5 of them will be slideshows and 6 of them will be bedrooms that will be basically the same. And the 3 adoption rooms will be the same. And hey, I can use the Petz kitchen for my kitchen...I just need to add a door. The main rooms I'm going to run into problem with are the entry and the upstairs hallway because they are going to need to be 3Dish to show all the doorways...and I can't seem to grasp how 3D works >.> I see it in my head bright and clear and perfect. But yea... The one main thing I need to know is this. For html coding I need to know how I would be able to overlap and arrange the images to work right. Persay, the adoption room. I want to know if I can create the room with empty cages and then somehow use html to insert images of the puppies in the cage with the doors over them onto that exact spot. Like...the room would be the background image and the puppy would be a image on the page...but how do I get that puppy to be in exactly the right spot. I -think- I'm going to need a special webpage editing program for this. I wonder if geocities sitebuilder would work. I remember being able to move the images around and overlap them...i think, lol.

You will have to master DivLayers if you want to make the images layer properly.
And sitebuilder may work, but a project of that size may use up the feeble amount of space Geocities allows you, so you may want to invest in either a bigger free web host or a cheap paid for webhost.

DivLayers...I'll look into that. Can freewebs do divLayers and if so, do you think they can handle a project of this size? And if not, do you know of a free webhost that can?
EDIT: I love Lissa explains it all, lol. This isn't going to be as hard as I thought it was. For the adoption room the background image can be the room with empty cages and no doors. Then the puppy would be layer1 and then cage door would be layer2 so when I had new adoptions all I have to do is make sure the image is the size of the cage. (I'll come up with something standard to use) then make it transparent and then switch the image links. Wow! How simple!
Now...scrolling over something and having something pop up, how could I do that?
(I got the hallways figured out, btw...now just the entry way)

Yes freewebs can do Divlayers, as far as I know.
For the pop up, I used to know how. I had a Petz layout which had a popup window, but I cant for the life of me remember the "onclick" properties you need to add to the link (A HREF) tag. I knwo Space Case has a popup layout so she may be able to help you.

Haha I'd totally pay to buy this idea off of you. It's amazing!
I think it would be extremely difficult if you have no HTML background, but seeing as you do know your way around, I bet you could pull it off!

I'm working on the actual physical design now. It's not going to be the best, but it is going to be decent looking. And guess what? hehehe When I'm done, I'm making every room into a playscene so people can come play at SPK!!! Hahaha, I love this <3
And Kari, if you want to 'steal' the idea, go ahead!!! I think it would be AWESOME if there were more kennels like this!!! (plus...if you were doing it too you might come up with ideas that I didn't and we could...share ideas ;D )
If you happen to remember the pop up thing, let me know Ela. ^.^
EDIT: Each room is going to be a standard pixel size. What do you think...650 tall, 750 wide...or 750 tall, 850 wide or something else?

This sounds awesome, Demon. Wow. I would give this a shot, but I am just like Ela. I lose interest in big projects easily, so I don't think I could. But, maybe I'll give it a shot when I need a new layout. I can't wait to see this completed.

That looks perfect, Demon. Wow, now I really want to try something like this. The biggest thing that is holding me back is the artwork part. >.<
I wish I had more talent. xD

That's what I thought at first and my rooms are going to be surprisingly simple...done with PSP8 textures and patterns and such, but I think, even though it will be simple, it will still be fun and draw people in!!!
