Well, it's not another language persay, but I can use Teeline Shorthand. It's pretty much LIKE learning another lingo, because it has it's own alphabet and shortcuts, but it's still english.
For example "on the other hand" is all one word, as is "s/he will be able to." we use it in journalism to take down conversations/interviews very fast. I just passed my 80 words a minute in May :]

O.o thats interesting. I took Journalism 3 years in a row - we learned note taking but not Teeline Shorthand - i've never heard of it. Probably would of been useful. lol <3 stoopid teachers.

idk, depends what sort of course you were on!! some college courses teach journalistic skills but not reporting skills. i'm doing a degree that wraps ALL of it up, including TV presenting and show-hosting.

oh ya this was high school. we had tests on like grammar when it comes to articles, adding quotes properly, etc. We didn't learn how to interview so to speak.. learned what types of questions to ask to get the most out of a person. I was an editor, which was upsetting because by the time senior year came around.. i was a "seasoned" editor. So I had to read EVERYONES articles including the freshmeat's and like rip them appart and gut them to what they were suppose to be. very depressing job. lols

Well ofcourse I speak Dutch fluently=P and my English is pretty good if I may say so myself...I have no problem reading, writing, understandig it, but sometimes the words come out with somewhat of an accent...haha. German would have to be the second language I'm most fluent in. I can read and write it very well and understanding isn't that much of a problem, although speaking is much harder:/ I would love to learn French someday too...=)

^^ My school has started teaching Latin too. Shame I live in England, with no Latin people around me... I am quite fluent in French, which we have to learn at school, and I did learn German for 1 year, also. I try to teach myself Welsh when I have time, which I would love to be fluet in, as I want to live in Wales when Im older. I attemped Spanish at one point, but it wasn't going so well... :L I love languages.

Spanish. Its my first language xP but I tend to be better at English. I usually only speak Spanish with my family, since that is their main language.
